Ok! This is the reverse light switch located under the gear stick gaiter! Could just need adjusting.....double nut locking system or is faulty/broken! The switch has a plunger that is activated by the movement of the gear stick to reverse!
Start up is in the starter/solenoid relay area.
Not moving in Drive could be trans fluid is too low, it has to be checked when warm(15 mins run) but as long as its well up the stick, cold, it should go. Has it got any safety switch to stop drive if park brake is on?
The most likely cause of the gear shift not moving from park is a faulty brake light /pedal switch. You need to depress the brake to remove from Park and or select other combinations. With this switch failed you will not be able to do this. If your brake lights do work then there could be a second switch in the pedal. Many manufacturers use a separate switch for this.
check the wiring for breaks. if ok. and check the reverse switch .in your i think it is down the left hand side of your gear stick.or the trouble is loose linkages from the gear stick to your gear box.
hi check and clean the MS air flow sensor, also the gear box needs a service every 2 years. now the service technician will tell you major gear box problems but it happened to me aswell and it turns out the valves inside the gear box was sticking to the valve body and causing the gears to stay in a specific gear till it reaches the rev limiter and would change. so after i got the oil and filter changed on my box, it still got stuck but dont worry as thats a common problem with a very easy solution, take the car on a long road and really put your foot down, let the engine and gear box temperature rise from hard driving and the valves should release itself from the body of the box and re-lubricate itself not to get stuck again
first check is the kick down switch working or not, as a first step, get in to the driver seat, don't switch on or start, press accelerator paddle slowly til end then depress and listen is it make a click sound or not, if not kick down switch could be faulty, this information for you to understand how the kick down switch working, when you drive the car did you depress and check the kick down working or not same as you did now? once again drive car and fully depress accelerator and check if not working you must get it in to the Mercedes workshop for right diagnose possibly faulty kick down switch in accelerator paddle, is this information helped you?
