There is almost certainly an alternative. The buyer's guide of some of the old fashioned catalogues such as still might be found under the counter of an aftermarket motor factor contained diagrams of cables with the dimensions.
There is a fairly limited number of cable ends in common use and lots of vehicles used cable clutches over several decades.

In the past lots of towns and cities contained small businesses that would make all manner of things from speedo and throttle cables to new radiators or hydraulic pipes. If your outer cable is in reasonable condition, such a business would be able to make a new inner.

Finally there is a network of vehicle breakers connected by the internet where used parts might be obtained.

If your vehicle has one. it usually snaps or threads into the back of the speedo at the upper end, and attaches to a drive gear on the transmission at the lower end.

1) CHECK THE ADJUSTMENT OF THE CLUTCH PEDAL, CHECK ITS FREE PLY.

2)ALSO THIS CAN HAPPEN IF ENGINE, GEAR BOX OR SELECTOR SHAFT SEAL IS LEAKING

3)PEUGEOT OFFERS A WARRANTY OF 1 YEAR FOR THE PARTS FITTED. EVENTHOUGH THE WEAR & TEAR PARTS ARE EXCLUDED, IF YOU HAVE FIXED GOT IT FIXED EARLIER WITH IN THE PEUGEOT NETWORK & IT REALLY IS THE DEFECT OF THE PART, YOU STILL HAVE A CHANCE.

SOURCE: how do you identify the gearbox type on a peugeot

There is a model number on the box, on a machined surface. The most common type on 1905cc engines was the BE3 with pull type clutch

I have a peugeot boxer 1.9d van and cant remove the clutch cable from out of bulk head, pedal side as it has snapped, do you have any ideas

If the cable has completely snapped and not attached to the clutch pedal, the whole cable, casing and broken cable should just about fall out of the bulkhead. I have never had a problem with that on any vehicle.

Boxer van gear select problem

need to feel it ,could be clutch ,if it goes in without the running then its the clutch. But i think your problem is more like the linkage and if its a builders van, then you could have rubble dropped down inside the gearchange boot.???Boxer isnt the gearchange on the dash on this model??if so then the problem could be the linkage cable ,--they get a bit rusty and sticky and you can only buy a complete pair as one unit .Try oiling with a proper oil can and some engine oil ,and not that obnoxous fish oil wd stuff

How can I adjust my 1996 Peugeot 405 clutch cable

My 405 had a self adjusting clutch but the BX box fits and they were adjustable, take out the airfilter and pipes, grab the end of cable and pull hard, if it releases then it is a working self adjuster, if not look for the adjuster nut, some are fitter on a bell-crank near the starter (13mm) others are 10mm nuts on the end of the inner cable.
