I had the exact same problem with mine. After replacing nearly everything i took it to a shop today to learn that I had a bad wire on the back of the distributor and the new fuel pump i installed from autozone was faulty and not providing enough pressure.

no..i also have an 85 gr. marquis with the 5.0 engine... i changed the starter solenoid located next to the battery on the passenger side firewall of the car.. if it clicks then its either the solenoid or the starter..those are hard to kill cars with good grounds..check the solenoid..

Disconnet the wire going to the coil and with a test light turn the igntion on and see if the battery side of the coil is getting power. IF it is not then trace back the wire to see if it's burnt. Chevy trucks also have a disk on the back of the firewall that can cause them not to run it is a thermal switch and can go bad with the key on check each side of the disk if you have power on both sides it's ok, next check the starter wire to see if it is not broke. if you don't have power tothe coil then then take a piece of wire and run it from the battery to the battery side of the coil and turn the key to start if it runs you know your not gettig power if it does not run thenwith the hot wire still connected pull a plug wire off and see if you get a spark out of the coil wire to ground. If not then the breaker plate has three plastic buttons on the bottom of the plate and the wear off or breake this will cause the plate to short out and cause the car not to start. If you need more help post to the e-mial you get from this and we can do some more testing.

sorry rob i forgot to mention it's a 4.8 straight 6 & no spark either
Do you have power to the distributor with the key in crank position ? Power to and ground pulse at ignition coil while cranking ?
