Is your key completely intact, as the remote section has the immobilizer chip in it.
Have a look at the immobilizer light when you put the key in to see if the light goes out. If it doesn't go out you're having a key or immobilizer ring problem.
Check main/fuel pump relay
Check the flywheel sensor, on the belt end of the engine,on the engine block, easy th change over ,that is a good possibility. good luck!
SOURCE: my ignition switch is stuck on my lexus es300
It sounds like you need to replace the ignition switch. This happened to me about a year ago on my 1999 ES 300. Usually part of the ignition is stripped or broken so the key can't move. It's a pretty easy fix, you have to take off the plastic dash cover so you can unscrew the ignition switch and slide it out. The problem you'll have is when you put in a new ignition you'll get new keys with it. The ignition key will be different than the locks on your car. I have to carry two keys now, kind of a pain, but cheaper than having your locks rekeyed.
SOURCE: hesistaton at idle speed. how many ignition coils are used in a 98 lexus es300?
I looked it up on AutoZone.com and it looks like there is only one coil. You can verify that by giving them a call. However, to me it sounds like you might be having a problem with your idle air control valve. Since you are only having problems when the vehicle is at idle I would take a look at your IAC. It is located on the throttle body and is usually held on by two screws. When the IAC starts to go bad you will have problems with the vehicle when idling. Let me know if you have any other questions. Thanks for rating my response and for using FixYa!
