Got this issue with my vehicle. I have a video on my youtube page for you to watch and see if we can diagnose the issue at hand. Key in turn to start cranks 1 or 2 time goes to the ticking low grinding sound. Similar to a failing battery, dashboard lights dulling and blinking. New Battery installed no change same, turn to start cranks 1 or 2 time goes to the ticking low grinding sound. connected a code reader, which I had no clue on how to use and saw P0335 - crankshaft position A sensor before I cleared the memory. I don't know if the code was there prior, since I had no clue on how to use it.. gun shot to head I have plugged in the code reader several time since cranking the engine to hopefully get another reading, it only says 0 ? yes with the question mark The starter does crank but if you see in the video the belt pulley for the power steering pump just kinda moves back and forth and you hear the grinding and ticking So, what you think.... will not start 3 different videos on youtube , youtu.be/7HQ_npjLHDo , youtu.be/yRHw2p7KBHY , youtu.be/_V4tIaABSLg ,
If that's a new battery, and FULLY CHARGED, you probably either have a bad connection from the battery to the starter, or from the battery to engine ground. Possibly a bad starter.
How does it turn over if you try to jump the battery? If no better, check for clean, tight connections, and check the starter (take it off and have it checked at a parts store).
If everything looks good there, and starter checks out OK, check that the engine turns over easily by hand, using the bolt on the harmonic damper. If it is very hard to turn, you may have internal damage - bearings seizing, piston rings dragging, etc.
Another possibility, but doesn't sound like it in the videos, is that there is mechanical interference in the engine (i.e., between pistons and valves).

the starter should be replaced. The solenoid is kikcing the pinion out but there is no contact being made to turn the starter motor. I have the exact same truck and before i changed the starter used the old starter tap trick. Tap the starter casing with a hammer and it should start turning again. hope this was helpful for you. Good luck.

crank shaft sen. is easy enough to change.its mounted near timing chain cover, cam sen.is somewhat harder, its in the distributor,id doubt that both are defect

In the kit there are two sensor that look identical. The one for the crankshaft has a white paint mark on it near the bolt hole. Make sure that it is in the right location.
