Sometimes my 1996 Ford Ranger won't start. It cranks fine, just won't start. Usually, if I keep trying, it will eventually start and run fine. It doesn't matter if it's hot or cold (the engine).
I had the same problem , and if you read your book, it could be the fuel pump shut off switch, mine was bad and went from on to off position, its usually under the passenger side of the dash, look underneath at the "top" of the carpet, and you'll see a little red switch, check to see if the thing is plugged in , if it is , check to see if the switch is all the way down. i had to get a new one , sombody must have kicked mine and made it broken, but i got a new one and it worked fine
I have a 1996 ford ranger i put new coil packs wires and plugs on it. It starts sometime not all the time . I am getting spark and fuel would it be my mass air flow sensor.
If you change the plug wires and have the wires crossed or not connected correctly it can cause it to not start or the coil is bad!
I have a 1996 ford ranger 4cylinder just put on new plug wires and plugs was cranking fine before tuning up now it only tuirns over and doesn't crank help!
The next time it tries to do this, stop cranking, turn the key off, crawl under the truck, smack the side of your fuel tank with a hammer, then try again. If it starts immediately, you are losing a fuel pump. If there is no change, then you'll need to determine if you are losing fuel pressure while it sits still or if there is an electrical issue messing with your injector pulse.
