Well you didn't specify where it's showing up in the vehicle if its the trunk make sure the trunks weather strip and seal that goes around the body and seals when the trunk is closed is not broken and also the trunk has seam sealer for the body joints and welds make sure theres not even a pin hole in it ,a leak can also be coming in through the windshield fr/rr from the sealer under the glass getting brittle in the front there is a cowl screen that keeps out leaves and other debris and it has a rubber gasket on it this can dry up and break and this applies to water only if you see antifreeze it's your heater core unless your using straight water forengine cooling which you shouldn't be another leak spot is all the doors insulation rubber and the window strips if they are severely worn water can run down freely into the doors and from sloshing around inside can drain into the passed compartment from a rust door skin on the bottom

Hi I have a Volvo C30 2013 there is water under the passenger side seat don't know where it's coming from can anyone help please

There are two possible causes. How much liquid is collecting there? This might sound a strange question but does it smell of anything?
A small amount of water with no smell is most likely a faulty rubber door seal. Check all of them as water leaks can travel from other areas.
If there is a larger amount of liquid and it has a sweet smell it is coolant. It will possibly be the heater matrix leaking. This is a small radiator buried behind the dashboard that supplies the heat to your air conditioning system.
This is a major job to fix as you have to take the entire dashboard out to find it! So pay a mechanic to do it!

Volvo xc90 is knocking and oil light stays on. A big cloud of smoke came from the back and the speed slowed down

Is there oil behind the engine or on the passengers' side indicating a leak? If so u may have bad turbo oil seal OR if on the PS of the engine bad cam seals

"I have 1998 Volvo V70 AWD and my check engine light is on. I changed gas cap that one I got from the Volvo. Also I done smoke test few days ago, the mechanic couldn't find any leak. Now it show the code...

1--Evap system hoses
2--Purge Valve
3--Check Valve
4--Air pump
5--Canister valve(some people call canister purge valve)

A crack in an evap hose is the most common thing. I would definitely check the two evap canister hoses. These are easy to fine, one being the J hose, which is in a J shape, and connected to your canister and the other end to a valve. Then the Canister Evap hose, which is 18" or so long with a 4" L on the end of it. It connects to a hard plastic or metal hose that can easily be reached by removing the rear passenger side tire on a 98 S70 turbo. Check these 2 first. I found that the cracks in both of these hoses were where the clicks were or close to them(many old style clips causing this). Check these too, again they will both be connected to the canister valve that is right beside the charcoal canister on the passenger rear side.

  • WATER LEAK IN RIGHT FRONT OF PASSENGER COMPARTMENT
Publication Date: January 17, 2006
FORD: 2005/06 Freestyle
ISSUE: Some 2005 Freestyle vehicles may exhibit a water leak at the right front passenger compartment. This may be due to grommet for rear washer fluid line at dash not being fully seated.
ACTION: Inspect windshield washer grommet from inside vehicle under dash and properly seat if out of position. Pull carpet back and reach under bulkhead pad to install. Removal of instrument panel is not required. (Figure 1)

DOES MY SUNROOF HAVE DRAINAGE PORTS THAT NEED CLEANING?

all sunroofs have drain pipes, usualy 4, one on each corner, they usualy run down the A pillars at the front and poke out near the kick panals by the footwell. the rears often run down the C pillar to the vicinity of the boot.
open the sunroof up and carefully pour lots of water around the drain gulley of the sunroof, you should see it pissing out onto the floor at the front and rear on each side. make sure water goes down all 4 corners of the sunroof and check. Pipes can come of at the roof. also the drain grommets block up.

common problem on passats also is the pollen filter housing letting in water (under the scuttle panel beneath the bonnet. on left hand drives though, this fills the passenger side only (left). not sure on RHD which side pollen filter housing is on , but when they leak the water fills up inside the car on one side only, which can flow front or rear depending on car being parked up or down hill.
the seal between the pollen filter housing and the bulkhead often leak, if you press down on the plastic housing you may hear the seal squelching water. there was a recall on this, so it may have been done.
If the comparment under the panel (where the battery is) is filling with water, there is a drain grommet under the batter that also blocks up sometimes, causing it to fill up and flow in where it shouldnt.

Replacing bulbs in tail lights in a Town and Country Van. How do i remove the unit from the vehicale, no screw or bolts, just 2 knobs.

  1. Open your tailgate.
  2. Look for two (2) round flat black discs about the size of a dime (but thicker) on the inside of the body (between the red lens and the weather striping).
  3. Using a pair of pliers, pull out each of these two discs.
    • Note they are in tight and may require a fair bit of force to remove.
  4. Make sure the inner part of the disc also comes out. There are two parts to this system, a grommet and a plug:
    1. Push the plug backwards through the grommet.
      • The grommet fits into the actual hole in the body, and is spread by the plug, the pressure holding them in place.
    2. Carefully remove both grommet and plug.
      • The lens assembly will fall away from the vehicle when you pull out the second grommet so be careful.
  5. Note the wiring harness that connects to a plug inside. Beside that plug are two holders for the actual bulbs.
  6. Remove the holder by pressing the sides inwards and pulling. The light socket should come out.

Coolant leaking on 1991 Volvo 740 Turbo Wagon

There is a pipe that connects to the rear of the waterpump right where you say it is leaking. I would guess the seal is leaking. Since you have to remove the pump to replace the seal, you should replace the waterpump.

These engines commonly blow the headgasket when overheated, and commonly overheat and leak coolant when the headgasket is blown. So it may be hard to say what came first, but either way you will need to determine if the headgasket is OK before you make any repairs.

Good Luck,
Bret

There is a water leak somewhere in my 98 toyota camry that leaks into my passenger side floor. There is no sun roof and no visible leaks from the windows or doors. Any thoughts? A/C leak maybe? water...

I am the original owner of camry xle 1998 with wet floors. In 2000 I had drivers side door seal leaking at welt. Removed old door seal and new weather strip on drivers side installed. The door panel was never wet, but wet at bottom of door where there are drain holes...slowly leaking under carpet.
In 2001 later water again. Coming from overflowing A/C evaporator-drain plugged/ tank full of debris. Removed evaporator, cleaned + drain cleaned.
In 2003, driver door seal against window rotted. Removed door panel and found leak at window belt molding at the mirror joint inside + out. Lots of mold under carpet needed to replace! Made a fuss at dealers for reacurring problem and they replaced the carpet for free.
