2003 durango brake light not working

If only one brake light is out (mine was driver's side) and you've tried changing the bulb, then it might be a metal contact in the bulb socket in the light assembly. Looks like the hot bulb melts the plastic and lets the one or more bulb contacts sink into the socket and pull away from the base of the bulb, preventing electrical contact. A little coating of solder on the socket contact(s) gave enough height to contact the base of the new bulb and get the brake light working again.
