The springs in the pressure plate have broken /collapsed from where and maybe your clutch disc to is worn out I think that there's no adjustment left possible so buy a new clutch disc pressure plate and throw out bearing it's better to replace all at one time ok otherwise your back there again in2-3weeks

SOURCE: Clutch pedal low near floor, can the clutch be adjusted?

hi the clutch on accent is hydraulic operation so if pedal is very low on disengaging clutch ? you may have a problem with the hydraulics 1st thing to check is fluid level? this is the reservoir that feeds both brakes and clutch but is seperaterated inside if fluid low? top up and bleed the slave cyl however if fluid low indicates a leak ? possibly slave cyl? if no loss of fluid ? then prob may be fault in the master cyl ? check fluid come back with any update please ps if this problem has just occured? check for leaks ?

SOURCE: 1987 944 clutch pedal stays on the floor

look, if the clutch pedal is to the floor, there are about 3 different things that could be wrong. First check brake fluid to make sure full, see if there is any leakage under steering wheel and below transmission. Next could be the slave cylinder, it could be faulty or not bled right. Last it could be the master cylinder. If when you bleed the slave cylinder and have no movement in the arm inside the transmission then most likely the master cylinder is broken. Look under the steering wheel and see if everything looks entact. Watch the movement of the pedal and see if movement looks normal and see if fully attached. Good luck. Check www.clarks-garage.com for any problem in which you want to fix yourself. Great free site.

SOURCE: clutch pedal stays 2 the floor on a hydralic

Did you bleed the system? When you replace the the master and/or slave cylinder you have to bleed the system just as you would with brakes. There is a bleed screw on the slave cylinder. Open the bleed screw, have a helper depress and hold the clutch pedal down.Tighten the bleed screw, then release clutch. Repeat this procedure until you have removed all air from the system and the clutch pedal is firm. Keep an eye on the fluid level to avoid sucking air into the system. If you have done this, remember there is a possibility that the master or slave cylinder is defective.

Check for fluid leaks first along the line. Also check the mechanical linkage. Then try bleeding it. Changing the master cylinder is your last resort. That way you dont buy parts you don't need.

My clutch goes all the way to the floor I have a standard Camaro 96 3.8

clutch pedals are suposed to go all the way to the floor , you sure you dont mean brake pedal (cus thats bad ! ) clutches should travel all the way to floor and release the "grab" of the engine about 2/3 down , this way they are more smoothly allowing shifting thru the gears and not jerking as you shift thru the gears , if clutch pedal does not start to "grab" the engines power by 2/3 off the floor and fully "grab"its power all the way up(slipping) ,and you have a hydraulic clutch (96's do) then the clutch disk may require replacement or there is a oil leak in the clutch/master/slave cylinder , look for small oil leaks from under car in area of foot pedals
clutches should be replaced as an assembly that includes , disk ,pressure plate, throwout bearing , with engine side clutch plate magnafluxed for heat cracks and any hydraulic oil leaks replaced or repaired

96 jeep grand cherokee bypassed abs mod, have brakes but pedal goes to floor

Do you mean it fades to the floor?
If you hit the pedal hard and they are ok ,but if you hold the pedal and let off the pressure just a little ,and the pedal falls to the floor, the master cylinder is bad. This is assuming there are no leaks.

I have a 94 dodge stealth and when u press the clutch it just stays on the floor. I have replaced both the clutch master cylinder and slave cylinder but it has fixed the problem yet.

  • Okie dokie,,,they have a really hard bleed success rate.. you can do it by your self ...follow my steps...
  • make sure the pedal is off the floor in the up position
  • use the 10mm unscrew the bleeder screw on the slave cyl about 2 full revoloutions
  • pour fluid in the clutch res start to look down watch it come out the bleeder screw, wait a few seconds and tighten the screw.
  • keep filling the resevoir..it can be messy then put the top cap on the resvoir snug...
  • now you bleed, untighten the bleeder screw a 1/4 turn then go push on your clutch pedal, it if does not go down loosen another 1/4 turn...
  • if the pedal hits the floor>>>>tighten the bleeder screw first then pick-up the peadal...
  • make sure the resevoir is half full ....
  • okay loosen the bleeder screw 1/4 to 1/3 turn again, push the peadal to the floor... let it go all the way down.
  • then go tighten the bleeder screw , and pick up the pedal....
  • keep an eye on your resevoir ...
  • note if you ever remove the clutch cap to fill you must bleed the system..the cap does not hold pressure but it does provide a suction...!!!

2004 Grand Am with manual transmission. Press clutch pedal to floor but does not spring back and cannot shift gears. Is this a hydraulic fluid proplem?

yes,

you have air in the hydraulic system.

get a buddy to push the pedal for you. locate the oil drain on the clutch.

1. pump the pedal couple of times, then press and hold hard to the floor.
2. while holding the pedal, release the drain. after it squirts, re-tighten.

repeat the steps untill the pedal is firm and there is no more air bubles when draining.

I have a 96 sunfire & the clutch when depressed stayed depressed down to the floor! Do I have cheap options to fix it or what??

See if the pedal, itself isn't sticking. Next, see if your pedal operates a cable, linkage, or if it is hydraulic and uses a brake line.
(It sounds like a cable is broken)
