On the weekend I was changing my tires and my mastercraft reducer snapped. I was told that there is a lifetime warranty on these parts.

There are MANY engine control malfunctions that can cause the engine control system to default to "Reduced Power Mode".

Reduced Power Mode is simply a computer strategy that was created by the vehicle manufacturers to keep people from doing dumb things like continuing to operate the vehicle with the "Check Engine" or other warning lamps YELLING at them to get their car properly diagnosed and repaired. Reduced Power Mode is also designed to protect the vehicle from further damage in certain cases.

Ignoring the warning lamps can cause safety issues as well as damage HIGH DOLLAR parts like catalytic converters, which the vehicle manufacturers are responsible for due to Federal Emissions and Safety laws.

As for whether it is covered under warranty....
Many major components of your engine control system are covered under the Federally-Mandated 8-Year 80,000 mile emissions warranty. The ONLY way to find out if your particular failure is covered is to have the vehicle first diagnosed to determine what is CAUSING the failure. Then you must check with an authorized dealer to see if the part (or parts) causing the problem are covered.

I have a 1999 hyundai accent and the headlights keep blowing

I have a couple of suggestions for things you can try. I'd start by measuring the battery voltage while the car is running. It should measure somewhere in the range of 13 to 14.5 volts. If the voltage is higher than that you may have a bad voltage regulator and this may cause your headlights to burn out faster. A bad voltage regulator can also cause your battery to overheat and boil off a lot of the battery fluid. Take a look at the fluid level in the battery. It should be slightly higher than the vertical plates (fins) inside the battery. If the level is low add some distilled water to bring the level back up. Make sure to check all 6 cells. I'd also check to make sure the headlight casings are mounted securely. If they're loose, the extra giggling of the light bulbs may cause them to burn out faster. I'd also check your headlight cases for moisture. Sometimes a crack in the casing will allow some water to enter. This moisture can reduce the lifetime of the bulbs. When you change your headlights be careful not to touch the glass part of the bulb with your fingers. The oil from your fingers can reduce the lifetime of the bulbs. The last two things I'd check are your shock absorbers and tires. If the shocks are bad or if you've developed some flat spots on the tires the car may experience excessive vibration while you driving. This vibration could reduce the lifetime of the bulbs. I hope this advice helps you out.

My 2006 Chrysler Sebring touring suspension recently started squeaking after my winter tires were installed.what could be the cause of this?

the tire might be rubbing on the strut assembly but i betting its just cold grease when it gets cold the grease gets thick and the rubber bushings in the suspension get stiff making squeaking noises i would take it to a oil changing place and have them grease the chassis that should help.

Replaced alternator 3 times in 2 year period what could be causing it to go bad??

Well, the most common problem with alternators that I have had in my life has been with alternators that were not lifetime warrantied. If you buy a 1 year warranted alternator, it's likely that the parts inside are inferior to the lifetime warrantied alternators in the aftermarket stores such as Autozone, Advance Auto, Pep Boys, etc.

So, I would recommend that you make sure that you buy a lifetime warrantied part and that should last a very long time, several years in my case per car that I purchased the alternator for.

This also applies to starter motors and other parts for your car.

If you buy a lifetime warrantied alternator and it still goes bad, then there's something in the usage of it, like high miles or lots of accessories being used all of the operational time, that is causing the brushes to wear out prematurely.

1998 plymouth voyager3.3l has leak at water pump behind pulley

First of all, changing thermostat will not fix your water pump leak. Obviously defective pump or install. Be sure to take a closer look, in case it's a loose hose in the area. Leaking from behind pulley, usually calls for new pump. What I would do though, is take it back to original repair shop & question them about any warranty that may apply. Some have 1 yr. some have limited lifetime etc. If you can obtain a copy of work done, the part number on the pump should give you what you need to call (or shop can call) and inquire about that particular part number as far as warranty goes. (I'd make the call myself, ahead of time, so I know.) That way, perhaps the shop who originally installed it may feel some kind of obligation to replace it at a reduced fee, as in labor only. ($27 for new pump) . Be nice, play a little dumb, it may help, and if they want you to pay the whole shot over again, go elsewhere for estimate.
