I had a debris sucked in the oil pump, jamming the oil pump, breaking timing gear plastic teeth, Ford 429.
Check for oil pressure while cranking or that oil pump turns freely.

6-300 timing gear mark alignment

  1. Drain the cooling system and remove the front cover.

CAUTION When draining the coolant, keep in mind that cats and dogs are attracted by the ethylene glycol antifreeze, and are quite likely to drink any that is left in an uncovered container or in puddles on the ground. This will prove fatal in sufficient quantity. Always drain the coolant into a sealable container. Coolant should be reused unless it is contaminated or several years old.

  1. Crank the engine until the timing marks on the camshaft and crankshaft gears are aligned.
  2. Use a gear puller to removal both of the timing gears.
  3. Before installing the timing gears, be sure that the key and spacer are properly installed. Align the gear key way with the key and install the gear on the camshaft. Be sure that the timing marks line up on the camshaft and the crankshaft gears and install the crankshaft gear.
  4. Install the front cover, and assemble the rest of the engine in the reverse order of disassembly. Fill the cooling system.

SOURCE: F150 V 8 NO Spark replaced coil / distributor w/

There is no crank shaft sensor for this truck, check all fuses, make sure there is none blown, check for 12 volts at the coil,if there is no voltage at the coil, replace the ignition switch,if there is voltage at the coil, make sure the rotor button,is turning when turning the engine over with the starter. If the rotor button ,is not turning, then the timing chain,in the engine has broke.I do not know how to tell you to check the map sensor, but if it is bad,it will not fire.

Why isnt my rotor button turning

Possibly a sheared roll pin on the distributor or the gear is striped. Take the Distributor cap off with wires attached if there is room to move it out of the way. There should be a bolt at the bottom with a bracket, remove the bolt and bracket and remove the distributor, check the roll pin and gear to make srure there in proper condition. Both ends of the roll pin can be there but still sheared. Check also but hold the rotor button and turning the gear to make sure that the shaft is not broken. Gear is at the bottom.

1985 ford f150 6 cyl has fire has gas will not start

Ive got two thing you can check 1 remove distributor cap grab the rotor and see if you can move it if so you do you could have a sheared pin or rod 2 pull the plug to number one cylinder( which is the first plug on passenger side toward front of truck ) then put your finger by the hole and have some one bump the motor over till you feel air coming out lokk at the timing mark aim for tdc then look at your rotor follow the matching plug wire does it go to the num 1 plug if not it could have jumped time if you already checked the distributor now you need to check the timing chain my advice would be to buy a chilton manual it would make it a lot easier on you

I have a 1999 ford f150 exhaust pipe and muffler

did the flange come apart or did the pipe break, if the pipe broke then you will have to replace the system fron the flange back, these exhaust systems look good but corrode from the inside out, get a new system i will probably come in three pieces, and new hangers, its pretty straightforward

My clutch linkage bolt just broke, how can i fix it? i think its the linkage bolt. Its the bolt that connencts the shifter th the trans before it moves the gears. its on a 1983 ford f250

I'm browsing stuff with my dad and just noticed your question. Coincidentally, my 83's clutch linkage's bracket just broke the other day. It was the pin on the RH side that sheared right off. (The one that bolts to the engine/bell housing...) After digging around in some wrecking yards in the mud and rain, I went online and found something that could work at LMCTRUCK.com or at BRONCOGRAVEYARD.com... However I just thought I'd try the local FORD parts dealer in Olympia, and although the 25+ year old part has been discontinued, he said according to his computer there were a few sitting on a shelf on the east coast. So I ordered one for about $100. Maybe you can too... Here's the part number: FOEOTTZ-7A572-C Good luck! Check out those other online sources for the bushings and seals you might need as well. -DFW

Overheated truck

Your radiator is getting clogged up with mud causing the lack of air flow through the radiator. You may want to install a mud deflector in front of your radiator to keep the mud from clogging up the radiator and may be run your antifreeze ratio 40/60 (antifreeze/water) the higher the water content the better the heat transfer, but your have to keep an eye on the level of the coolant level more often. Water will evaporate quicker but too muck antifreeze will have poor heat transfer and 100% antifreeze will gel when heated causing poor circulation causing overheating. Good luck and hope this helps.

89 Ford F150 shuts off when put in gear.

After sitting 2 years, there must have been some fuel in tank that has probably gone real bad (like shellac) and contaminated the fuel system, plugged up filter etc. Usually rust will form in tank, mixed with stale fuel, it will turn just like mud.

1989 Ford F-150 won't start

I have found that Ford products are very sensitive to poor grounds and poor connections at the battery or starter/ starter solenoid. Clean all grounds and terminal connectors really through. Don't just look and judge them to be clean. After market add on battery clamps will corrode where you put the cable into them. Be sure to take them apart and clean there also. Also ck to be sure your battery is putting out the cranking amps it is
rated at. If not sure take it to a shop and have it tested. Good luck.
