Check your spark plug gaps when you drive slower this symptom is not there but when you increase the engine load at higher rpm's the air gap is to far on the plugs and they spread from increased heat making it harder to keep the engine e running this also could be a dirty throttle body if you see dark brownish looking sludge you must spray it out with fuel injection cleaner and change your gas to a name brand that has detergents in it like SHELL ,EXXON ,MOBILE BP, ETC.//// valero , liberty, usa, delta are complete engine killers no detergents and it clogs up your fuel injection and that same brown gunk stays on your valves which will eventually burn them and cause very expensive engine repairs if this is the case please do this GO TO WALMART AND BUY 1 CAN OF FUEL INJECTION SPRAY AND 2 CANS OF THE IN TANK CLEANER BERRIMANS OR GUM OUT I PERSONALLY USE THE BERRIMANS AND HAVE FOR 30 YEARS, ANYWAY SPRAY OUT THE THROTTLE BODY USE THE WHOLE CAN /////NEXT TAKE BOTH IN TANK CANS AND PUT THEM IN GO TO A GOOD GAS STATION AND FILL UP ON 93 OCTANE AND THEN GO FOR A DRIVE FOR 1 HOUR AT 55MPH. The inside of the ignition dealer (Delco) must be thoroughly cleaned and all metal parts passed with fine metal wool. Sparkplugs must also be cleaned or renewed. The air inlet-valve is very sensitive. The cylinder and the disc must be carefully cleaned with light metal wool and contact cleaner. The fault is due to the disc remaining stuck in the cylinder, so no idle function and malfunction of the auto-choke system. If this solution does not work, then the vacuum pressure is defective.Hint from a German Mercedes specialist.

Remove IAC (idle speed control) motor, clean with throttlebody spray cleaner & the port (hole)it came out of. Re-install & try it. If it cures it for a while & does it again, replace the IAC motor.

I have same problem (87 1.8 Carb Clipper), thought it was rust from fuel tank getting in Carb, changed the tank and fuel filler pipe but still have problem (but not as frequent). I'm gonna get it tuned (mixture and timing etc), also try fuel pump relay and check choke.....fingers crossed.

I have replaced many injector driver modules on these diesels. GM has redesigned it and i have never had a replacement one fail. This is a known problem for the 6.5 diesel. Unfortunately its about a 500 dollar part from the dealer, and requires intake removal, and some very tight work space to replace.

SOURCE: car stalls when turning
when your car stalls by turning left or right, usually a loose or a glazed belt is suspected. reason being is that the pump is being put under a load by the power steering piston. making belt slip because it needs more torque to spin pulley. also draws more current, so check idle speed and spark plugs.

It's hard to post long answers ::the reason for the 2 cans and 93 octane is for this the higher the octane fuel level the more stabile it is which causes it to burn slower =(better gas mileage) but the 2 cans will produce a much needed hotter blue flame inside the combustion chambers and exhaust system cleaning out the valve train, fuel injectors, and your catalytic convertors if you ever saw dragster with open headers you see flames shooting out of the headers exhaust on the sides of the car you will be doing the same thing to clean out the impurities from the low grade fuel you just won't see the flames all engines flame from the combustion explosions that take place inside the engine but the combination of the hotter blue flame and the slower burning (the flame lasts longer )will clean out the cylinders and valves injectors and catalytic convertors and raise up your mpg's then you can go back to 89 octane and 1 can a month will be fine
