SOURCE: program second key fob

Your key can only be programed at the dealer. They have to use a scan tool and a unique id code that they get from the factory. It is done this way to help insure that the vehicle is less likely to be stolden.

I am having this same issue with my 2008 Dodge Grand Caravan , I had it towed to the local Dodge Dealership. They just told me that it is the Wireless Control Module and it is going to cost $461.00 to replace it.

SOURCE: 2008 Dodge Grand Caravan and the key won't turn

If all else fails try disconnecting the battery for 30secs or so... It worked for us!! Saved big$$ on towing it in and the dealerships doing the same thing..

SOURCE: KEY FOB

ATTENTION: You MUST HAVE one working remote to add one more to the system. If you do not have one working remote right now then these instructions will not work. You will have to have a Locksmith or dealership use a computer to program the first remote for you.

Click here to find a Locksmith in your area to program this remote.
1. Enter your vehicle and close all doors.

2. Fasten your seat belt ( fastening the seat belt will cancel any chiming that may
confuse you during this programming procedure.)

3. Place key into the ignition.

4. Turn the ignition to the ON position ( DO NOT START THE ENGINE )

5. Press and hold the UNLOCK button on a working remote.

6. Continue to hold the UNLOCK button, wait at least 4 seconds, but no longer than
10 seconds, then press and hold PANIC button.

7. When a single chime is heard, release both buttons. The chime indicates the system
is in program mode.

8. Press and release both the LOCK and UNLOCK buttons, simultaneoulsly on the remote
to be programmed.

9. A single chime will be heard. The chime indicates the the remote was recognized.

10. Within 4 seconds of hearing the chime, press and release any button on the remote
being programmed.

11. A single chime will be heard The chime indicates the remote has been programmed.

12. Repeat steps 8 to 11 for a total of 4 remotes.

13. Turn the ignition to the OFF position or wait 60 seconds to exit program mode.

2008 Dodge Grand Caravan door lock button won't work on driver's side?

Question edited to add maker.
Question moved to model category.

The problem here is the wiring harness where it travels from the door into the door frame. Constant opening and closing of the driver's door bends the wires back and forth until they work harden and snap. This issue ONLY happens on the driver door.

Once you get inside there, you can check with a multimeter and replace that wire.

2008 Grand Caravan. Just bought 2 new fobs. Having exactly same problem as with the old ones. New batteries only last couple of days. Something with van? Old ones worked real good until about 3 month

Dont go to the dealer just yet. Some of these key fob batteries are charged while you are driving your vehicle with the key in the ignition. I recommend you change the batteries one more time, this time around disassemble the key as best you can without damaging it and clean it very well. Pay special attention to any metal contacts and be sure to slide out the valet key (if applicable) and clean it very well also. Di-electric grease will ensure good continuity on metal contacts internal to the key. It seems as though your problem is internal to the key. It also seems like this should be a relatively quick fix. Also, The tipm and ecu are known to fail on this vehicle, just throwing that out there if you have issues down the road. I hope this helps. Let me know if I can assist any further.

I have an older caravan, but it's probably the same. On the side near the panic button, close to the key chain loop, there is a small slot, gently pry the halves apart for access to the battery.

1996 dodge grand caravan le key fob doesn't work, batteries are good. Can I need to sync it or reset it?

I put a new battery in the key fob for a 2008 Dodge Grand Caravan, and, at first, it still didn't work. Took it to the Dodge Dealer, who said the fob was dead. NOT SO! My husband put a little piece of cardboard on top of the battery so the battery contact was improved, and the fob works fine now.
