Yes. The car will still need the ECM for the engine controls and gauge cluster. The ECM will need to be reflashed or replaced with one set up for a manual transmission. If I'm not mistaken you don't have to do anything to the ECM if you don't mind looking at the engine light.

I have a 1986 travel air with a 460 if it sit more then a day I have to pump an pump it but once it starts I can shut it off and it will start write up again

Sounds like a fuel problem. If it is throttle body injection, check fuel pressure-should be around 15-20psi, I think, but you might check the specs for that.
If it is carbureted, pull off the line at the carb and check flow and volume. It should spurt out and reach about a pint in a minute. The pressure on carbureted engines is low, about 5-7psi. The mechanical pump on carbureted engines is on the engine block. Maybe the arm for the pump is worn, or diaphragm has a small hole?

1990 corvette engine races and takes off when brake pedal is depressed. Happen in drive and reverse. Getting scary.

Hi Jackie , It doesn't have to have a code stored in the ECM memory for a problem too exist . need some more info from your if you would like some ideas as to the problem !
What engine does yours have ? 5.7L ? What type fuel system does it have - TBI - throttle body fuel injection ? I had vehicles at the Chevy dealer I worked at with this type fuel injection , where the engine raced really fast . Vacuum leaks , bad plug wires can cause this problem . The engine computer is compensating for more air entering the engine ! After fixing the problem it still was racing , you have to drive the vehicle an get the speed up over 35 MPH for the ECM to reset !

Car keeps flooding

is your car fuel injected or carburetted? if you say flooding i assume you have a carburetor, my only problem is your car is '05 which is usually fuel injected. but let's say it is carburetted, open carburetor and clean, check float valve for debris which prevent it from closing when reservoir is full, flooding occur when this happen. diy or have a mechanic do it for you.

Need to know where the location of fuel pump is on 85 t -bird

If fuel injected- Central Fuel Injection, as I think it was, the electric pump should be in the gas tank. If still carbureted, it will have a mechanical fuel pump on the engine.

Where is the fuel pump located on a 262ci engine for a 1988 Monte Carlo LS?

Don't remember if that engine has fuel injection...don't think it did. If it is carbureted the pump is mechanical and is located at the right front side of the engine block. Just follow the fuel line from the carb inlet and it will lead you directly to it. If it has injection, the pump is electric and is inside the fuel tank.

My 1993 caprice is getting to much gas to the engine whats the problem help please!!!!!

Probably a bad fuel pressure regulator. This is really dependent on whether or not the car is carbureted or fuel injected.

Underhood fuse block swap out relay #7 thats the ECM relay.
Ground Circuits Using a DVOM, touch negative voltmeter lead to a good ground. Touch positive voltmeter lead to each ground terminal. With vehicle running, voltmeter should indicate less than one volt. If reading is greater than one volt, check for open, corrosion and loose connection on ground lead. See ECM GROUND LOCATION table for ECM ground location.

you can get high performance rebuild kits for those t-5 trans from summit for a very reasonable price and just get it rebuilt and you can hold up to 800 horses on that t-5 after that or just pick up a new or used tranny and replace it
