It sounds like the circuit has a short in it somewhere. You can check for grounding with the same tester your used to measure the amp draw. Connect the tester and put it on continuity, this should sound an alarm when a closed circuit is detected. Move the harness around to see if it goes off.

SOURCE: I have a 1998 chevy blazer (s-10) 4.3L 4x4 it

check transfer case electrical switch, sometime if it bad it will also blow the fuse. don't recommend you put any higher fuse than recommend, If the fuse blow there is a short some where and by putting higher amp fuse you might short or burn something else beside the fuse. if that check out than check your transfer case motor, might lock up and not allowing the motor to turn instead it short the fuse. don't drive the car, just leave it in park, put correct fuse amp back in and unplug transfer case electric switch and turn the key on (dont start the car) and see if the fuse blow; if not plug it back in and see if it blow the fuse. if that is not the case, unplug transfer case wire, and do the same and see if it blow the fuse.

My 2009 pt cruiser battery goes dead overnite

I had this problem as well on a earlier year PT Cruiser, i tried everything i could think of, removing fuses one by one while watching the current draw on the battery led me to the radio, after pulling the fuse for the radio the current draw dropped down to about 150mA, i don't know what was wrong with the radio but i replaced it and the problem went away. The IOD fuse supplies power to the ECU and all of the electronic control modules in the car, how much current draw are you seeing with the IOD fuse in, and how much are you seeing with it out? Its not uncommon to see a couple hundred mA in standby to everything, especially if you have the factory security system with immobilizer, chipped keys. But you may have to pull one fuse at a time to find the culprit if you are seeing a much higher draw, should be less than 1 amp at the worst.

Battery draining out checked alternator lights radio etc please advise new battery fitted aswell

You need to do a parasitic draw test with a amp meter hooked up in series with negative battery post an negative battery cable ! Check how much draw there is an then pull fuse's till you see the draw go away . Find a wiring diagram of power flow for that circuit to see what all is powered by that fuse . I have a 04 Nissan quest and the battery is being changed for the second time in less than a year. The car had an issue with the radio turning on and off and finally staying off. When I remove the negative...

.09 mA is normal memory power draw for clock, ecm, & bcm .. its when you have a draw over a half amp to full amp. the radio acting funny may be low voltage or a intermittent short/ draw from the radoi circuit. not really enough info to determine. check for a voltage drop twix the battery and fuse block, anything more than half a volt difference may be bad battery cables or connection. also check or have the alternator checked, if there is a bad diode, alt bleeding AC voltage, or over charging the battery which will kill even the best battery in a year.good luck, hope this helps

Xg300 parasitic draw, located the 2 fuses that have the draw on them, how do i fix it

parasitic draw should remain at 50 milli amps or less or .05 amps this needs to be checked with an amp meter with the battery terminal disconnected and the power drain going through the amp meter keep in mind the circuits your testing may take up to an hour or two to fully go to sleep there is no easy way to test these multi circuits it takes years experience to troubleshoot these

My 2004 Chevrolet Malibu Classic keeps blowing the Ign sw-batt1 (40A) Maxi Fuse What do I do?

Is the 4th digit of your vehicle's VIN an "N"? If it is an "N", it looks like the IGN SW BATT 1 (fuse#5) powers up the powertrain control module (PCM), body control module (BCM), and instrument panel cluster (IPC). If your PCM ACC fuse G (10 amp) and IPC/BFC ACC fuse J (10 amp) in the left driver side fuse block in the dash are not blown, then you have a short circuit to ground in the wire between the IGN SW BATT 1 fuse in the underhood fuse block, and the ignition switch in the steering column. This would be a thick red wire. A short circuit to ground means that this wire somewhere has rubbed through and is touching metal. Find the short, repair the wire, and you'll stop replacing that expensive 40 amp fuse :)
Unless... someone has tapped into the wire (amplifier or stereo?) and is pulling way too much current through the wire, in which case the fuse would be blowing out. The correction for a blown fuse is NEVER to install a bigger fuse. You risk overheating the circuit and possible fire. Always find the cause of the short/overcurrent.

Pulled all the fuses in chevy equinox and put back in now car wont start

Double check that all fuses are still good and in the right locations.
Sometimes they will pop when you install them right after you saw that they were still good.
Let me know what you find.

Significant battery draw on my 2007 Honda Odyssey until I remove the fuse labeled "Back Up, ACC". 40A square type fuse. what circuit does this fuse protect?

Fuse #15 "BACK UP/ACC" (40 Amp) in the Underhood Fuse/Relay Box
protects the circuits leading to Fuse #7 "BACKUP" (7.5 Amp) in the Underhood
Fuse/Relay Box and also fuses (#5 "RADIO" (10 Amp), #6 "INTR LIGHT" (7.5 Amp),
#7 "BACK UP" (7.5 Amp), #8 "not used", and #9 "FR ACC SOCKET (10 Amp)
in the Driver's Fuse/Relay Box.
To further narrow down the source of your draw, pull each of these fuses one at a time.
No, that was not a "typo" There are 2 fuses marked "BACK UP" and are both 7.5 Amp and one is
in the Underhood Fuse/Relay Box and the other is in the Driver's Fuse/Relay Box. (I checked this 3 times just to make sure.)

5 amp problem causing battery to die out....had diagnosic done..no problem new battery, alternator good and starter good...but still showing a 5 amp draw.....tested all interior exterior lights good...no...

The easiest way to isolate a draw is by pulling fuses one at a time. When the draw goes away you can research the circuit that the fuse supplies power to.
