Hello Cjmm,
Your vehicle presently has 37 Technical Service Bulletins
(TSBs) Driver Amenities: Instrumentation.. None specifically
point to your issue (not even looking at "tow" issue)...
but the associated wiring clearly depicts
"a continuous battery source"... which should supply
continuous battery during ignition key operation...!!
>> Assuming all battery & ground points are clean
(battery cables & post connections are the FIRST
step in ALL ELECTRIC anomalies)...
>> The NEXT is
Fuse terminal ("hot at all times") Fuse 19, 15 Amp
RDO Battery is your IPC (INSTRUMENT PANEL CLUSTER)
source on your vehicle's wiring diagram.
FREE wiring & TSBs are available (after registration)
at BBB Industries website for most POPULAR USA market vehicles (I am using it now to verify your "IPC" connection).
See BBB Industries (at bottom):
After FIRST cleaning your battery terminals...
Place FELT WASHERS to prolong protection:
Amazon com Road Power 0989 Anti Corrosion Fiber Washers 1 Pack 2 Washers 6...
Amazon com NOCO NCP2 CB104S 4 Oz Brush On Oil Based Battery Corrosion...
... and remember those cables have two ends...
Them move on to inspect that fuse ...
Amazon com Bussmann DIA 2 ATM Blade Fuse Diagnostic Kit Automotive
Hope this helps

THERE HAVE BEEN ALOT OF PLOBLEMS WITH THE SHIFTER HANDLE/SWITCH. THE BEST WAY TO VERIFY CONCERN IS USE A DIAG. SCANNER & VIEW TRANSMISSION DATA DISPLAY WHILE ENGINE RUNNING. THE SWITCH IN THE SHIFTER IS FAULTY. IF YOU SEE NO INPUT CHANGE WHILE DEPRESSING SWITCH THIS IS YOUR CONCERN.

I have found that on three silverado's there is a plastic clamp on the bottom side of steering column where the wires become broken and can short out. You have to remove the column covers to see this, it should be claser to the lowe dash trim panel area needs a shifter to repair unless you can fix that little wire!

I had a problem with my tow/haul button not working. I came to find out that the gear shift had cut the wire running to the button in two. You may want to check that.
