I just had this issue with my G6 - it was a hood latch sensor. If a sensor senses a door ajar or hood open, the remote start will not work.

My remote start on my 2005 Grand Prix will start the engine but shuts off right away.

is there any check engine light on??
well about GMC and chevrolet i can say that if there is any problem with the engine/the engine light is ON then the vehicle wont start, just an idea that may be there is the same reason with your car.

06 pontiac grand prix wont start no clicking when you turn the key over even jump starting the battery, has dash lights & radio & parking lights. battery tested good. put a used starter & altinator on

Used parts such as starters and altinators don't last. It might **** but it sounds like you need to buy a new starter, altinator, and battery. Or just start with buying one at a time.

I have the same problem with my 2008 Grand Prix - replaced the batteries in both key fobs - they worked for a few days and quit working. Remote start does not work and both of the cigarette lighter chargers do not work either. I have recieved a "charging system failure" message on the readout screen as well. I have checked with 2 different mechanics and they are not sure what it is. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Remote start not working 2006 grand prix

To get the remote start going again, I remembered a time when my Explorer phob would not open the doors automatically, I was told to insert the key and toggle it from off to "run" (not starting it, but having the radio and lights come on) position about 4 - 5 times to reset it. I tried that with the car, and it worked!!

Thanks,
Jane

Keyless remote

I just had to replace mine and sounds like the same problem. At the local O'Reilly's they have a display that shows if the RF from the buttons are working, if you can find one of those. I tried cleaning under the pad and nothing worked I think this is a common problem from what the local dealer tells me. I had to push my old buttons harder and harder to get it to work until they did not any more. About $175 to replace and program at my local dealer.
