My 2003 acura TL will engage the front brakes without input from the brake pedal. Seems to be associated with the wobble in front wheels occuring at 60-65 mph. In my case, the VCA light was not on but the Maint light was. Can't accelerate or get past 40 because the brakes are on! Can imagine what this is doing to the rotor and pads. I turned off the VCA system and got home. Am heading to my mechanic to find if the VCA or the ABS may be forcing the brakes following the wheel wobble. Anyone solve this ghost braking issue?
The problem will be in the master cylinder compensating port blocked
disc brakes do not have return valves or residual line pressure like drum brakes
if at any time the heated brake fluid is not allowed to expand back into the reservoir it expands and pushes the disc brakes harder on
catch 22 situation
dragging pads generate heat , fluid expands and presses the pads on harder = more heat =more pressure
the rotors have to be running true ( no wobbles) wheel bearings have to be correctly adjusted or replaced and the calliper body has to move freely on the mounting pins to allow for self centering action
instead of the mechanic go to an accredited brake professional shop and have a proper diagnosis and quote done

you might need to pull two pins out of the caliper and pull the pads out that way with out pulling the caliper off.
SOURCE: how do i reset my
Key off, hold select and reset button, then turn key on, but don't start engine, wait approximately 15 seconds until maintenance required light stops flashing. Turn key back off. Turn on again without starting if reset is successful maintenance light will only appear once.

Check for brake fluids and make sure all the brake fluid container is closed tightly. Also, you make have to bleed the brakes.

1. torque on the slide pins is about 25 to 30 ft lbs.
2. torque on caliper bracket to knuckle is 80 to 100 ft lbs
3. get the best pad you can get ,its an Acura . I recommend Bendix import quiet ceramic pads.
4. ceramic = less noise/dust less stopping power
metalics= better stopping power/noisey lots of dust
