I have a 2001 escort, the car runs smooth while driving, but as soon as I start to come to a stop the RPMs drop drastically and 99% of the time it stalls before I even come to a complete stop. If I use my AC the car will inevitably stall, & the serpentine belt makes an unbearable squeaking noise every time I turn the wheel. The belt tensioner was recently replaced because it threw the belt. i believe the rough idle had a lot to do with the tensioner going out, seeing as how the car jerks and vibrates pretty violenty at idle
I changed the spark plugs, wires and the coil was tested and works fine.
I cleaned the MAF sensor, and replaced the cam sensor.
I googled the codes from Autozone, and everything came up having to do with timing. Could timing be causing these problems? And if not what are my other options?

The CAMshaft position sensor is faulty.

if you have a no spark scenario i would check your crank sensor located at the top left side of the harmonic balance pulley.the crankshaft (about 11'oclock) a 2 wire plug with a sensor on it check to see if it is damaged or unsecured. this sensor can cause no spark if not working correctly. This sensor is based of frequency not voltage testing is difficult, just make sure that there isnt too muck air gap. and that it is secured.Lastly may want to check timing possible that the belt has jumped some teeth and she has fallen out of timing. maybe a bad tensioner The coil will adapt i think up to 10 degree, ****** or advance. Good luck

sounds like a vacuum intake leak..check a those little tubes for cracks and security. also check your transmission levels, this will sometimes cause a surging problem while driving..if all this checks good then it might be dirty or clogged injectors..purchase a can of Sea Foam from Autozone $10 pour in 1/2 can to half tank of gas and drive around for thirty minutes..highway driving preferred, and see if that will clean up the fuel system. Can i get some feedback, thanks
