Turn the key on( DONT CRANK IT) and listen near the fuel tank for a humming noise, it sould last about 3-5 sec, you are listinging for the fuel pump. If nothing is heard have your fuel pressue checked, chances are the electric fuel pump in the gas tank has failed.

My 2005 Suzuki Aerio won't start. I know that there is power as the lights, radio, ect are working when the ignition is turn on, but the car will not turn over. Side note, the heater blows even though it...

IS tthis a DIY question? or just want guessing? ill pretend DIY/.
no, the car will not crank.
cranking uses 100 amps of current,
the HL , maybe 10amps, 10x less.
turn over means nothing, cranking matters
both the starter and engine spin, "turns over": (1 can and other might not)
starting is a whole other matter, as is sustained start, called running.
crank?> start, started, running, 1,2,3,4.

the heater blower runs, key on, but the heater switch is off.
seem like the controller is tad upset, (lets fix engine first) and fix blower later. (my bet is it wakes up when battery is happy)

my guess is car has and automatic transmission, right>?
and as such to crank it must do so in, park and in Neutral.
does the engine crank in NEUTRAL. (hold foot brake, keyon, shift th N. ) crank now?
1: check fuses yet?
2: check rested battery voltage yet (meter) 12.6vdc.?
if less battery is bad, or only discharged. if yes, charge it?
no charger use jumper cables to crank car. got cables?
call AAA tow they jump start it? no AAA?
barrow a charged battery and try that, ok battery is charged and it will not crank,,, ,good progress now.
3: i next hot wire the starter solenoid. (some cars this is very hard)
check for about 11vdc at starter key line cranking.
0v means its dead.
hot wire that small starter wire, there, cranks now , key off
the starter is good.
now check voltage at the left side of P/N switch, Park/neutral.
12vdc id good, cranking, 11 is too.
if you cant get at least 11v out of switch 20. that means
the P/N switch is bad, (11 or more input)
(battery is good, solved that in test 2)
so bad transmission park neutral switch called the KEY line.

Fuel relay

Short answer, your batter is bad. or is disCHARGED:
Long.:

wont crank?
no engine, cranks ,unless the starting system works.
unless pushed fast, like my car or i park on a hill and coast jump my car.(M/T tranny rule)

NO crank, is the true failure here:
slow Cranks are , bad battery , or a discharged battery , due to bad charging system or parked for 3 months or longer.

so ill assume its NO CRANK.
I turn the key TO START and the starter fails to CRANK.
the starter motor is dead. (key clue 1)
so i attach a set of jumper cables to my Caddy, running and this car
now cranks and RUNS (you left that out. above, huh? runs)

turnsover means nothing, because the engine starter turns over
and the engine can turn over and the engine can run,
once running the EFI system SUSTAINS runninng.
so there are 4 states there. (4 phases )

No cranks #1 reason to be slow , are a bad battery
so I charge that battery, and see how if it cranks , now?
it dont crank means a bad battery
it does work( crank) see how long it works.../?
if it dies again, or better, check the cars Alternator for by measuring
accross the battery terminals running , with any volt meter.
13.3 to 15vdc is a good alternator running the engine.
if NOT, the charge system is bad. (system)

On some cars the IMMO can block Cranking or for sure blocks
fueling after 2 seconds. So. watch the IMMO light on the dash.
Immo is the Immoblizer. option.

How do i know if my battery is going out

I assume you are talking about the lead-acid starting battery here.

1) The battery voltage at rest will read less than 12.5 volts.
2) With the headlights turned on try starting the car. If they dim considerably when cranking then the battery is likely almost useless.
3) When cranking the car the engine will sound as if it is being turned very slowly.
4) When almost completely dead the engine won't crank when starting and you may hear a clicking sound under the hood/bonnet.
5) When completely dead, even the dashboard lights will not illuminate with the side-lights turned on.

Wont crank over

You either have a
No Crank or
No Start
Which is it?
Won't crank does NOT mean it won't start!!
You have to test thing to find out why
Start with the battery,starter,cables& solenoid
If the motor turns (cranks) then you have a no start
Check for compression,fuel,spark & air

My '95 volvo 960 got hot, and battery died. Tried to jump start in and it would crank but not start.

Dead Battery

Always try & charge,it is unsafe to jump
a dead battery, as it may have shorted cells

If the engine rotates, turns over, cranks,it is the same thing

To say it won't crank or won't turn over is wrong
That is a no start

1---Engine does turn over,rotates,or cranks

2----Engine is a no start or won't start or won't fire, no iginition

Security on. car wont crank. can trun key wont

verify that you have a fully charge battery and that you have the same amount of voltage at the battery as at the starter when the key is turned to the start position. If not repair fault at positive cable either at battery or at starter. If voltage checks good. Use a remote starter and turn key to the on position and try to crank over engine with remote starter. if engine cranks over. You have a defective starter solenoid and starter must be replaced.

Car won't start. It turns over and clicks fast, but nothing. Dad says it may be the starter, but I don't know where the starter is to tap it to see. Can you help?

Right side, down under. You say it turns over? if it turns over, the starter is working. Turning over and cranking are the same thing. It either CRANKS or it DOES NOT CRANK. or it CRANKS but wont RUN. Explain things in these terms so theres no confusion.

Starting Car

starter and battery and associated cables are good suspects...if you're not able to do
tests....one quick helper here...if you turn headlights on while cranking and see them dim greatly while cranking indicates weak battery and/or over hungry starter
