How do you read the rodeo's engine oil dip stick? 2001 Rodeo

Hmmm, from what you guys are saying, I do not have the correct dipstick. The dipstick in the vehicle is round with a plastic tip extending about 1.5 inches up from the end. On it there are 2 lines about 3/4 inch apart with 1.0L stamped in it. Above that there is a section of bare dipstick about 2 inches long with another plastic piece above it. I am wondering if someone put a transmission dipstick in place the engine oil dipstick. Mine is a 5 speed manual.

You should check it after the car is warm. Park on level ground
Pull the dipstick out and wipe it with a rag as it will have excess oil on it from the oil splashing. Stick the dipstick back in and pull it out again.

On the dipstick, there should be markings on the dipstick to signify the high and low points (high being the end closer to the handle) the oil should sit in between these two points.

    "there should be marking"
Should be? there are 3 mysterious plastic beads. Where should the oil be on the stick?

I have a 1994 Isuzu Rodeo that I've just bought. I cannot find the transmission dip stick. Where is it located?

Most transmissions didnt have a dip stick. There is a drain plug in the trans pan and another plug higher up in the pan which is the filler plug. Fill until oil trickles out, put plug in loosely, then start and run through gears. Remove fill plug and top up level while engine still running and make shure vehicle is on flat surface when topping up level until oil trickles out fill plug again.
see some similar posts on Jackaroo, Trooper, Rodeo, Frontera all had similar set up, similar trans.

How do you check the transmission fluid

On a 2000 Rodeo there is no dip stick, you have to warm the rodeo to normal temp then remove the drain plug on the transmission if fluid comes out it is ok if not you have to pump some into it with a oil can or some other pump I have one it sucks !

What to do if wrong oil dipstick is being used & cannot read oil

drain all of your oil and replace with approximately 4.3 litres of oil then check your dipstick then you will know. almost all vehicles hold that much at full.

I have a problem reading the oil dip stick for my 03 rodeo

the lower circle is the minimum level for the oil in your pan, so you should add oil. when was yor last oil change maybe you are due, always let the engine sit for a few minutes before chwcking your oil al it takes time for all the oil to drain back into the pan

Rodeo 98 Oil Reading

Take out your dipstick and clean it off with a paper towel, then replace for a few seconds and take it out again. You should be able to see the level on the end of the stick. If your oil is good, its a bit harder to see, but thats a good thing.
