The terminal from battery to starter motor is positive and should be rachable from under the car. If there is a belly plate for the engine you can remove it from under and charge your battery that way.
the battery or which post is which? First, the positive (+) post is ALWAYS larger than the negative (-). The posts are well marked next to each post. If you llok at the terminals, follow which one is connected to the body of the car, thats ALWAYS the negative cable (-)
If you dont have a "jump block" under the hood, you can carefully attach a decent size wire to the positive (large) terminal of the starter and the ground to anywhere on the engine block. that will give you a decent power source to open the trunk.
with the hood up, and facing the engine, on the left side of the engine there will be a red square cover that slides open to reveal the positive terminal. to the left of the positive terminal there will be a ground post attached to the body that is usually covered by a black cap. the battery is also on the left side of the engine compartment underneath the climate control air in let box which slides up and out once the 3 springs clips are released
