Wont shift into drive

sounds like your automatic transmission is stuffed, take it to a mechanic for a second opinion but it seems to me like you'll need to either rebuild or replace the transmission

SOUNDS LIKE A TPS SENSOR LOCATED ON THE THROTTLE BODY. IT CONTROLS THE SHIFTING ON A TRANSMISSION

Drive it slowly to a reputable transmission shop. There is nothing you can fix yourself.

yes the problem is the throttle position sensor. you need a new one. it isn't shifting because the transmission isn't getting a signal from the tps. so it thinks your foot is all the way to the floor so it wont change into 3rd until it redlines. change the sensor before you damage the transmission. It is easy to change. its on the throttle body on the side of the throttle plate. it reads the angle of the plate. two screws and one wire connection

Start with shift sensor. Then go down the line. It is possible something went wrong during the last shift and the transmission sensor locked it down into safety mode to avoid ripping up transmission. If this doesn't fix it you may need a rebuild.

check the shift cable, it may have broke or is way out of adjustment. the cable for downshifting. if the cable is ok, then check throttle position sensor at throttle plate on side of throttle body. this has a major effect on transmission shifting.

change fluid an filter, if thats not yer problem ya got tranny problems ya need to get checked out by a tranny shop

If you havent already try to change the transmission filter.Sometimes when the filter gets dirty fluid pressure is comprimised and certain pumps and solenoids which control shifting inside the transmission function off of the fluid pressure,

I had the same thing! It was a computer issue. It only cost me about $35.00.

These kinds of problems are common on the dodge mini vans, I think you will need to overhaul the trans, it has an internal fluid leak, one other thing to check is the electrical connector to the trans, make sure it is tight and has no corrosion or fluid in it, a poor connector connection can also cause these kinds of issues hot.
