If any of the headlights work the breaker is good, very rare to have a bad breaker. do both high beams work? if so most likely the bulb.

If it is only one headlight it is probably the headlight. If you have a test light you can test the headlight at the plug. One wire should be ground, one hot for low beams, one hot for high beam. Usually the low beam wire will be hot with the high beam wire. If all the wires are working properly the bulb is bad. When replacing try not to touch the glass part of the bulb with your fingers. this can cause the bulb to go bad right away or prematurely.

How to change headlight lamp in 2005 Pontiac g6

To change the bulbs you need to first remove the 5 plastic pop screws on the front bumper. They're spread out at the top of the bumper right under the hood. Once you get those out, you have to remove the two hex bolts on each headlight. Then it gets tricky. You need to pull the light towards the front of the car until it pops out of the ball-bearing type mount on the fender. Once that pops out, you have to pull the front bumper forward while maneuvering the headlight out towards the front.

As per the manual it says as follows:---

Open the hood.

Hold the headlamp to prevent damage to the headlamp or to the fascia. Remove the bolts from the headlamp assembly. Remove the push-in-retainers across the front fascia. Remove the headlamp assembly. Lift the headlamp upward to release the locating tab from the front edge of the fender.

Disconnect the electrical connector from the headlamp assembly.

Remove the headlamp bulb access cover by rotating the headlamp bulb access cover counterclockwise, if necessary.

Remove the headlamp bulb from the housing by rotating the socket counterclockwise, if necessary.

Disconnect the headlamp bulb electrical connector, if necessary.

Remove the park/turn bulb access cover by rotating the cover counterclockwise, if necessary.

Remove the park/turn bulb from the housing by rotating the socket counterclockwise, if necessary.

Gently pull the park/turn bulb from the socket, if necessary. Install the park/turn bulb into the bulb socket.

Install the park/turn bulb socket into the headlamp housing by rotating the socket clockwise.

Install the park/turn bulb access cover by rotating the cover clockwise.

Connect the headlamp bulb to the headlamp electrical connector.

Install the headlamp bulb into the headlamp housing. Rotate the socket clockwise until locked.

Install the headlamp bulb access cover by rotating the cover clockwise.

Position the headlamp assembly to the vehicle. Lift the headlamp upward to release the locating tab to the front edge of the fender.

Install the bolts to the headlamp assembly. Tighten the bolts to 2 N·m (18 lb in).

Install the push-in-retainers across the front fascia.

Close the hood.

When you turn the headlights on everything works but the headlights. If you hold the dimmer switch in the brights will come on. When you let it go the lights go out

Have you tried to change the headlights?

REMOVAL & INSTALLATION Sealed Beam NOTE: If vehicle is equipped with headlamp doors turn the headlight switch ON. Open the hood and locate the power distribution center. This center is located in the front of the left front strut tower. Remove the cover from the center and remove the Headlamp Close Relay. This will prevent the headlamp doors from closing to provide easier servicing. Turn the headlight switch to OFF, then perform this repair.
  1. Remove the headlight bezel.
  2. Unhook the spring from the headlight retaining ring if so equipped.
  3. Unscrew the retaining ring and remove it. NOTE: Do not disturb the two long aiming screws. Conventional and Halogen headlamp sealed beams units are interchangeable in pairs, but it is recommended that they not be mixed together (one halogen and one conventional). It is fine to upgrade from conventional bulbs to halogen, but do not change from halogen bulbs to conventional bulbs, especially if the vehicle came equipped with halogen bulbs.
  4. Unplug the old sealed beam from the engine electrical wiring harness.
  5. Extract the old bulb from its mounting bracket. To install:
  6. Connect the replacement bulb and install it into the receptacle (check operation of headlight before completing repair).
  7. Install the retaining ring and secure it in place with the retaining screws. Connect the spring.
  8. Install the headlight bezel.
Aero Headlamp Aero headlamp systems use replaceable halogen bulbs that are mounted in aerodynamic, molded plastic lens reflector assemblies. NOTE: Lens fogging is a normal condition and does not require service, as moisture will vent from tubes behind the lens on Aero headlamp-type system. EXCEPT PREMIER AND MONACO It may be necessary to remove the entire headlamp assembly if enough access cannot be gained otherwise.
  1. Locate and remove the wire connector behind the headlamp assembly in the engine compartment. It may be necessary to remove certain items in the engine compartment to gain access to the bulb wires.
  2. Rotate the bulb retaining ring counterclockwise 1?4 turn and remove the ring, bulb and bulb holder from the lens assembly. The bulb holder has alignment notches. NOTE: Do not touch the bulb with bare fingers or any possibly oily surface, since reduced bulb life may result! Fig. 1: To remove the light bulb, first unplug the headlight electrical connector, then . . . 86726p13.jpg
Fig. 2: . . . remove the light bulb socket retaining ring 86726p14.jpg
Fig. 3: Rotate the light bulb socket 1?4 turn counter-clockwise, then pull it straight out of the lens assembly 86726p15.jpg
    To install:
  3. Wearing gloves or holding the replacement bulb with a cloth rag to keep oil off of the bulb surface, insert the bulb into the rear hole of the headlamp assembly. Make certain that the alignment grooves and tabs line up, push the light bulb into the assembly until seated flush, then turn the bulb clockwise 1?4 turn.
  4. Plug the electrical light bulb wiring harness into the new light bulb. Install any items removed from the engine compartment.
PREMIER AND MONACO Unlike the other vehicles covered by this manual, the removal and installation of the headlamp bulbs in the Premier and Monaco models requires the extraction of the entire headlamp lens assembly.
  1. Remove the grille-to-headlamp assembly attaching screws.
  2. Disconnect the headlamp aiming cable from the aiming screw end.
  3. Remove the headlamp assembly attaching bolts from above and behind the lamp assembly and separate the lamp assembly from the vehicle.
  4. Unplug the headlamp wire connector. NOTE: Do not touch the bulb with bare fingers or any possibly oily surface, since reduced bulb life may result!
  5. Rotate the socket counterclockwise 1?4 turn and pull the socket from the back of the lens assembly. Fig. 4: Remove the bezel retaining screws to loosen the headlamp assembly - Premier and Monaco 86726g91.gif
Fig. 5: Detach the headlamp wire connector - Premier and Monaco 86726g92.gif
Fig. 6: Once the headlamp assembly has been removed from the vehicle, the various light bulbs can easily be removed - Premier and Monaco 86726g93.gif
    To install:
  7. Plug the headlamp wire connector back into the headlamp bulb.
  8. Install the assembly into the vehicle and secure in place with the mounting bolts.
  9. Connect the headlamp aiming cable to the aiming screw end.
  10. Install the grille-to-headlamp assembly attaching screws.

  1. sth~us~en~file=ani_caut.gif~gen~ref.gif WARNING: THE REPLACEABLE HALOGEN HEADLAMP BULB CONTAINS GAS UNDER PRESSURE. THE HALOGEN HEADLAMP BULB MAY SHATTER IF THE GLASS ENVELOPE IS SCRATCHED OR THE HALOGEN HEADLAMP BULB IS DROPPED. HANDLE HALOGEN HEADLAMP BULB CAREFULLY. GRASP HALOGEN HEADLAMP BULB ONLY BY ITS PLASTIC BASE. AVOID TOUCHING GLASS ENVELOPE. KEEP HALOGEN HEADLAMP BULB OUT OF REACH OF CHILDREN.
NOTE: A properly aimed headlamp (13008) assembly normally need not be re-aimed after installation of bulb. A burned out headlamp bulb and retainer (13N021) should not be removed from the headlamp until just before a replacement headlamp bulb and retainer is to be installed. Removal of a headlamp bulb and retainer for an extended period of time may allow contaminants (dust, moisture, smoke) to enter the headlamp and affect the performance of the headlamp. When servicing the headlamp bulb and retainer, energize the headlamp bulb and retainer only while it is contained within the headlamp body.

Make sure headlamp switch (11654) is in OFF position.
  1. NOTE: On some models the clamps holding the integrated relay control module (IRCM) may need to be unsnapped and the module pulled aside to gain access to the driver side bulb.

Open hood and locate headlamp bulb through hole in upper radiator support assembly.
  1. Remove headlamp wire connector from headlamp bulb and retainer by pulling the connector and wires in a rearward direction.
  1. Remove headlamp bulb retainer (13N019) by rotating counterclockwise (when viewed from rear) about one-eighth turn and sliding headlamp bulb retainer off headlamp bulb and retainer. Keep headlamp bulb retainer as it will be used again to retain new headlamp bulb and retainer.
  1. Carefully remove headlamp bulb and retainer from opening in headlamp bulb (13007) by gently pulling straight out of opening. Do not rotate headlamp bulb and retainer during removal.
