P0449 has to do with the Evap System. The problem could be with wiring short circuit, Could be the EVAP canister purge valve or the ECM.
P0455 has to do with the evap system as well. Could be a leak in one of the hoses to the evap system so you need to check all lines to the evap system. There is also one hose that connects to the top of the tank that we have seen come loose. Could also be a intake leak or a problem with the Canister purge valve. You can fix these yourself somewhat. I would trace down all the lines first to see if anything has come loose under the vehicle to the Black plastic EVAP canisters. Without being able to check the valves you will probably have to take it to a shop to have them checked out or pay the price to replace the valves and gamble they are the problem.

2006 Chevy Silverado-Emissions light on. told caused by DTC S P0449 & P0455. Large evapm leak & vent solenoid control circuit problem. Meaning???

The computer only checks for "leak" in the tank when the fuel is 15 to 85% full. So theoritically you could go fill the tank and have your local auto parts clear the code and the light would stay out till the fuel level dropped to 85% full and the computer desides to check your tank. Maybe in that short time period you could have your truck inspected.
GM sells a new kit to fix your old purge canister. RockAuto on the internet has some good deals on aftermarket purge canisters.

2005 chevy 1500 silverado eng. light on ran code p0455 and p0449 how to fix the problem. and how much work it takes. thanks STEVE.

P0449 is the evap vent valve solenoid circuit malfuntion.
P0455 is an evap gross leak
Perhaps the gross leak code has to do with the vent valve. Find the vent valve. It should be near a rectangle evap canister. Maybe under the bed. The small vent line from the fuel tank will go to it. The solenoid is near the cansiter. With the key off the valve will be open. With the key on it should be closed. You may try disconnection the hose and blow through it with both key off and on and see if air will pass through. If the valve has died and is stuck open, that can be the huge leak.

If it is not the leak then a smoke machine should be used. Easier than searching the lines for bad o-rings, splits, or whatevers.

I have a 2007 Chey silverado, and the two codes came up, P0449, and P0455. i know one is a large leak in the emissions system and not sure what the other one is. Should i get it hooked up to a fogger or...

  • P0449 - Evaporative Emission (EVAP) Vent Solenoid Control Circuit
  • P0455 - Evaporative Emission (EVAP) System Leak Detected

  • Many times this is caused by the canister vent solenoid. You can definitely hook the smoke to it but quite often is just that particular solenoid malfunctioning.

    I have a 2003 Chevy silverado and I'm getting a p0455 code, what's does that mean

P0455 Evaporative Emission System Leak Detected (large leak)
The large leak detected could be in a hose or connector leading to the front under the hood evaporative canister.

It is not a loose gas cap, though.

What does an obd11 code of po446 mean on a 2000 chevy silverado 1500?

It is for the canister vent solenoid. Gm has a service bulletin out on this. They have changed the location of the solenoid. They have a repair kit for about 100 dollars that comes with the solenoid and the lines and instructions for moving the solenoid to its new location.

Getting codes P0455 and P0449. From what I read,

The vent solenoid valve has been redesigned to correct the problem you are having. I would recommend purchasing the dealer component.
I am not aware of any aftermarket parts suppliers.
