There should be a switch on the trans that may have a bad connection or has gone bad. I am guessing your trans (like most) is an automatic.
I see yours is a 4x4. If you have been working on the rig or been out off road, then you may have clipped or bumped a connection.

I'm not sure on this year but it may be a part of the Neutral Safety Switch.

Hope this helps...

How do I fix a fuse that pops ever time I pull the light switch? 96 dodge Dakota no tail lights no side markers no license plate lightship. Has head lights turn signals brake lights reverse.

Sounds like you have a short that is going to ground. You can put a fuse in and have someone watch the rear lamps when you pull the light switch on. You can also check the bulb sockets by removing the bulbs. You could try a 5 amp heavier fuse (be careful only for a few seconds). Check the wiring for a weak spot as well. Try another light switch. I hope this helps.

sounds like you've been really trying, you say there is no power at the light bulb socket and you checked your switch at the transmission. did you check for power at the transmission. this will tell you if the problem is at the front of the truck or in the rear.

Why wont my reverse lights stay on if they work?

Hello,

if your reverse light don't stay on, first check the bulb.

If the bulb is okay, check the reverse light wire and make sure its intact.

Lastly, check your fuse box. You should find your fuse box under your steering and or inside the bonnet. Check if the fuse has blown.

Good luck.

How to fix 2002 dodge 4x4 standard regular cab st

seriously, it has to be the switch on the trans unless somebody was playing w/ the vehicle wiring recently. if you want to test it, unplug it and jump both sides of the wired connector w/ a paper clip. if the lights come on now (with ign.key ON) then the switch is bad

Backup lights don't work Bulbs are fine and fuse is fine

check the reverse switch as it's most likely failed. It'll be on the side of your transmission with several wires sticking out of it

1993 Dodge Shadow...left turn signal won't flash

If the fuses are good and the front and rear bulbs are good, change the flasher for the turn signals, even tho the right is working. If that doesn't fix the problem, it might be in the turn sgnal switch on the steering column.
If both bulbs are good for the backup lights and fuses are good, then the backup light switch, which is screwed into the side of the transmission has to bad.
