The most common problem is with the ABS control unit. You will most likely have to replace it. It is located under the brake hydraulic unit (not the master cylinder). This part can be purchaced from a Volvo dealer, or sent to one of the many places that repair them. If you choose to fix it yourself, and would like the name of one of the companys that repair them, let me know.
The code should be written in your user manual, if not, you will have to contact a Volvo Dealer. This option is placed in vehicle radios to deter theft and render the radio useless if stolen. Thanks for using FixYa.
I had the same problem and found that if I made sure the button on the shift lever is out all the way the key would come out. Mine was sticking and had to be pulled out, the spring had become weak on the shift knob.
