I have a 2002 volkswagon jetta with the monsoon radio and it is jammed to where it will turn on and off but does not output sound or allow us to change the station

not told why (the job) rats eat the wires or what?
no country of vin told
nor which of 5 to 10 audio head engine sound system radios
is there now or if aftermarket not from Jetta VW
the USA car this wiring is in the service manual
but is 1 or more page for each of 5 to 10 radios VW used

Try cleannig the contacts with a soft black lead pencil and see what happens

Fuse box #42 25A
Behind the radio if it's a Monsoon, 10A

Pull fuse 14 and reinsert.

There is also an inline fuse in back of the radio itself.

I'm sorry to report, but, if the system is malfunctioning at all selections and it is getting power than the unit has failed and it's time to go shopping, sorry. Thanks, Dana

checek the speekers they may be unpluged.

I have come to find out that in the 90's auto makers started installing factory amplifiers in their cars so they could use low wattage stereos in the dash. It's usually a blue wire off the stereo that runs the amp, maybe it couldve become disconnected? I also know that even if you put in an after market stereo, this wire must be hooked up or you'll get no sound from the speakers. hope this helps.

Check eBay...you need a double-din Monsoon Radio...make sure it comes with a code to unlock it.

i had to take it in - they have to find the serial number on the bottom of the radio, then call it in to VW and they will give you the code.
