Thanks, Glad I can try, however, its very easy to locate. if there's a plastic trim/cover over the engine remove-it and set aside. The Spark Plugs is sitting right below the Ignition Cassette or Coil as it is also referred to, it may say ECOTEC on the cover, secondly, remove the electrical harness on right side of the cassette, it's just above the oil filler cap, then remove the four, 10 bolts and pull-up the Ignition cassette. All four Spark Plugs will be there for easy removal and replacement. Reverse actions will be in order... Here is what you will need to perform the repair: 3/8 in ratchet, 5/8 in Spark-plug Socket, 3/8 in extension 12 ins long and a #10 socket. For your 2004 Chevrolet Malibu with a 2.2 liter ECOTEC Engine. Hope this DIY was helpful!
the plugs are located under the cover that runs across the top of the motor i think it is about 2-3" wide, also you might check the plugs to make sure they are getting spark.
ok... the engine compartment is the entire opening under the hood...the coolant surge tank is located at the front, it is usually white plastic with a plastic cap with a warning not to open when hot. hope this helps.
To gain access to the spark plugs and spark plug wires do the following. In a 2.4 liter engine, remove the ignition coil and module assembly from the top of the engine to gain access. In this Alero model's engine, the spark plugs run down the center of the engine. In a 3.1 liter engine, remove the air cleaner to gain access. The spark plugs are located next to the engine oil reservoir. For a 3.4 liter engine, remove the windshield wiper module cover and rotate the engine for service access. For a 2.2 liter engine, the spark plug wires are located across the top of the engine and require no components to be removed for access to the spark plugs.
is located over the cylinder head.theres no difficultyto replace them your self. recommend replacing them when the engine is cooled down because you could damage the spark plug thread when the engine is hot. all you have to remove is the ignition coil housing to replace them and there you will see the spark plugs.
On the 2002 olds alero 2.2 4 cylinder ecotec the spark plugs are located on top of the intake, under the cover that gives the engine size,it I think that yours are also located under this cover. All you have to do is remove the four bolts on top of the cover and your plugs will be under there.
The spark plugs on the cavalier are under the 2.2 ecotec panel located on the top of the engine. There are no spark plug wires to deal with. The electronic coil pack directly attaches to the plugs with rubber seats like in a spark plug end. Then you use a deep socket ratchet to get the plugs out. Use anti-seize compound when replacing the plugs.
