Without wanting to state the obvious this happend to me some time ago. Are you sure that you have not accidentally turned the external healight switch to the left or right. It does not turn the lights on but it does keep the internal light on. Check and turn it off!!

Check the several fuses in there (color RED)

Get it fixed by the other parties insurers. It will and should not cost you a cent. Failing that there are several non insured loss recoverers out there. Just search online.
