That is the only way to tow it.

It's always best to remove the drive shaft. Short hauls, put it in neutral.

I wouldn't flat tow any vehicle & expect
the transmission or transfer case, to be happy
about it,in the long run

If you study your owners manuals & service manuals
& towing stuff,you will see no manufacturer recommends
the driven wheels be on the ground.

I have 2014 frontier-so that is both ends, of a 4x4

I would put it on a trailer

Too much in the front & rear of the drive train, for me
to tow, other than a trailer

To tow an automatic transmission on a tow bar you MUST remove the driveshaft. There is no way for the transmission to be lubricated while it is turned by the driveshaft. The oil pump is in the front and runs off the torque converter. Hope this helps.

must have a tow attachement on the frame in the front,go to uhaul,they have the attachements.or nissan

Sounds like you need a fan clutch.

purchase a haynes manual, it should cover both years. study the differences and similarities, thats what i do.
