This could be from the sender wire being shorted to ground, but usually is the float valve inside the gas tank becoming stuck. Check all wiring first because fixing the sender unit requires dropping the fuel tank on most cars.
Hi, probably your gas tank float doesn't work. According to me cause of the problem , some metal parts of gas tank float mechanism is stuck or the gas tank float is dislocated.
If your fuel gauge is showing you in accurate readings this is normal to all vehicles that are not used to fill-up gas full regularly but sometimes the cause of the inacuracy is due to faulty float valve in the gas tank you need to replace it
Hi,
Check both the gas float and the fuel gauge.
The terminal wire on the fuel float when grounded on the bare metal body of your car it will register on your gauge as "FULL ", if not the fuel gauge is malfunctioning and have to replace.
When it register to your gauge as "FULL", the problem would be the gas float inside the fuel tank.
A technician could replace it for you.
Hope that helps you out.
Thanks for asking FixYa!
The fuel sending unit has a rhetrostat its a variable resitor ..As fuel is added the fuel lever mover along the rhetrostat and gives resitor signal to the fuel guage, the fuel gauge interpets this as level indicators to show on the gas tank.
sounds like ur sensor has **** itself, easyist way to fix is to get a
aftermarket sensor but you will have to match it to the omes of the
original one.
it is one of two things the fuel gauge in the tank is bad or the gauge in the dash is bad...I would check with the dealer to see if they have seen that problem before...they maybe a recall for that problem...
