Similar problem of symptoms like turbo lag which makes it very dangerous at intersections etc. I agree that its not turbo lag, but what is it then? Drove a 2009 2.8 recently and it is the exact opposite. Would smoke its tyres at the slightest provocation from a standstill. I drive a 2002 2.7crd. Excellent vehicle, but very annoying pull away sluggishness. I am sure this have got nothing to do with the clutch plates. PLEAESE HELP!

i think you go to dealer to reprogram the transm. by original programmer
SOURCE: 1998 jeep cherokee, has a sluggish pick up.
Jeeps have electric solenoids inside the transmission, (shift solenoids) I would have the jeep tested at the advance auto or autozone for codes if the check engine light is on; (its free) and go from there. sounds like the jeep may be in limp mode which chrysler created to protect the transmission. limp mode will not allow the jeep to shift all the way up to overdrive or shift all the way down to 1st shifting position. feels like it has to get going over25 to move well . AAMCO transmissions will diagnose your jeep for free in most states.

Did you check fuel pressure? If it is low, unplug regulator and look at it. Still low, change the filter. Now the pump may work but not give you volume. Pressure good, move on. Worn plugs, ignition etc. Vacuum leaks are a real no,no. Air filter, free from chip monks and mice, food? Now on to the TPS Sensor. Walk it down, but test every item before moving on and do not throw parts at it. OBD1 data isn't much ,so don't listen to all the scanner code fanatics. Now ,if you have acess to OBD 1 professional scanner, not a code reader,by all means look over the data.
