No reverse. What are the probable causes of DTCs P0700 and P0780?

I own a 2003 ODY & frequent ODYCLUB.com forums for answers.
General opinion is when these trannys go out, it happens quickly.
But, it never hurts to know your issues and options before taking a dealer mechanic's word.
1. Codes for Low transmission fluid: P0730 & P0780
2. P0700: Sorry, but a dealer has the HONDA diagnostic tool to find the real problem code. P0700 is a generic "transmission error" code used by after-market diagnostics.
3. Check if your "D" is lighting up on the shift indicator.

Here are some helpful links from the ODYCLUB Forum:
Note: Always check for healthy orange colored tranny fluid before re-filling. Black is BURNED and needs replace & might indicate clogged screens or worse.

I have grand cherokee 2001 limited the code p0700 is apper the gear is started scend shift espically in morinig

possible causes
Shorted or open circuit within Transmission Control Module (TCM)
- Faulty Transmission Control Module (TCM)
symptoms
- Engine Light ON (or Service Engine Soon Warning Light)
- Driveability problems
- Transmission shifting problems
p0700 description
The transaxle Control Module (TCM) monitors the malfunction of sensors and actuators relating to transaxle control. When the TCM detects a malfunction with the control, a signal is send to the Engine Control Module (ECM) to trigger the Engine Light or Service Engine Soon light. The ECM stores the P0700 code and it means the TCM detected a malfunction with the transaxle controls.

2002 chevy trailblazer LS has just had transmission replaced now service engine soon light is on cruise control stopped working ac pulls engine idle down when car stops at intersection and tranny not...

your going to ave to get under the SUV, look for the connectors going to the transmission, sounds like one of them is not pushed in all the way, or insted of pullling off the connector the correct way the yanked it by the wires, if you have an "Auto Zone" near by you can stop by there and they can read the codes for you for free, if you need to read the BCM codes you can rent the tool for free, or sometimes they will let you take it in front of the store to use it from 30sec or so. will at least point you in a direction.

Codes p0118, p0700,andp1781

for code p0118 the possible fixes are a bad connection to the sensor
an open on the ground circuit to the ecm
or a bad temperature sensor

for code p0700 possible tranny major issue this would have to be inspected by a tranny shop

for code p1781 not sure what that code is not familiar with this one to be completely honest

I have a 2004 dodge neon sxt, the check engine light is on and when i drive it the exhaust is loud and the car accelerates horrible. I get it up to 30 max and it takes a little while. Got it diagnosed and...

If u have an exhaust leak (loud sound) that will affect a lot of the sensor readings. The O2 sensors will not read properly either & set codes. If the leak is large enough u will lose power & the trans wont work properly either & set codes. Just because u have a code, doesn't mean the part is bad. Start w the basics. If there is an exhaust leak, fix that 1st & clear the codes.

Engine code p0700 need help

It is possible that there are other causes, but if you just want to replace the output speed sensor:

it should be easy enough to find. it will be along the tail shaft pointing perpendicular to the drive shaft. It will have two wires for a harness. simply unplug the sensor, put a drop pan under it in case some fluid drops out. then just wrench it out, install the new one and hook everything back up. check fluid level if applicable... good luck

Check engine code p0700

this code is a transmission code and has a few different tranny sensors that is reads. you could just be low on tranny fluid or is could be the tranny axle speed sensor. odds are if its running fine now it is just low fluid but you could look into the sensor after that. the sensor is what tells the truck when to shift so thats could be why it went up in rpms if the sensor went out bacause then it would know exactly how to shift.
