Honda Accord check engine flashes when tapping brakes

Engine light flashing along with the drop on RPMs is indicative of misfires. Connect a scan tool and see if any codes are stored this may give you a starting point. As for the clicking I'm not sure that it is related to the engine light but clicking when braking may be due to worn suspension/steering parts such as control arm bushings

Fix the issue of why it kicking the code. Dont just erase it otherwise your not fixing anything. When you clear the code it erases the info in the pcm so it acts like nothing is wrong until you drive it around a bit and the vehicle re-detects the issue. If you want tell me the code and I will tell you how to fix it.

The check engine light comes on from time to time, goes off some of the time, has little shake when first starts, but otherwise runs fine

When a check engine light comes on, even if it goes off, it still sets a code that stays in the vehicles computer. I suggest taking your vehicle to Autozone(or similar part store) and take advantage of their free computer diagnosis. They can print you off a receipt with the codes as well as the most likely causes and solutions. This would be a great starting point.

Does the Check Engine light come ON when this happens? Whenever the "Check Engine" light comes on, there is always a DTC (Diagnostic Trouble Code) stored in the ECM (Engine Control Module). You'll need an OBDII (On-Board-Diagnostics) scanner to retrieve any codes recorded/set in ECM. Once you do this and let us know what, if any codes are set, then we can go from there. What did the dealership tell you???? NO trouble Codes?

I had the same indications on My 2000 Maxima but the engine was also running rough . I replaced the number 3 cylinder ignition module and all of the spark plugs and all of the error lights are back to normal I had to reset the check engine light by disconnecting the battery for about 15 minutes.By the way my car has 253,000 miles on it so if you have a lot of miles on your car you might want to check all of the ignition modules so pull your spark plugs and read them they might tell you where your problem is .

Check engine light keeps coming on

The 1st thing to do is find out which one of over 100 codes is stored in the engine computers memory, whenever the check engine light comes on a code for that problem is stored in memory. You can go to any Auto-Zone parts store and they will run this code read test for free, then post them back here and I will help figure out what has gone wrong.

Have a garage or an autozone scan computer and get codes, i know auto zone does it for free.atleast figureout y light is on.good luck.

Best suggestion is to take it to Schuck's/Kraegan/Chief's/NAPA/Auto Zone, etc and have them plug in a code reader. It is free and they can do this for you....FOR FREE!!! FREE IS ALWAYS GOOD!!!

After it is read, it will give you a starting point to what MAY be the impending problem.
