I replaced the brake booster and reinstalled the brake light switch. I do not understand how it could possibly actuate the switch since it floats on the booster rod. The switch works when manually pushed
The parts store had given me a booster for an 88-94 model. The the brake booster rod end clevis would not actuate the switch. After installing the correct part number component it works like a champ.

Hi, your basic symptoms will be. Your brake pedal. Will be very hard to push. When the pedal is engaged there will be a large vacuum leak, usually causing the engine to be very ruff or stall. If its bad enuff, youll hear the the air leak when pedal is depressed, hope that helps.
remove the nuts that hold the master cylinder on and move it to the side, get inside the truck and remove the brake booster rod from the brake pedal and remove the 4 nuts holding the brake booster on.reverse the procedure.you got it.do not remove the brake lines!!!
IM SORRY BUT I DON;T UNDERSTAND WHAT YOU ARE TRYING TO SAY YOU DID THE VACUUM BOSTER CONTROL UNIT WHAT SWITCH DOSEN;T WORK AND WHAT LIGHT ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT
if its a vacuum booster,,their are two nuts that holds on the master cyl,,that needs to come off,,then there is four under the in side dash that needs to come off,,of course the vacuum hose
Does the turn signals or hazards work in the rear?? Yes... it may be the brake switch or the turn signal switch (power goes from battery, to the brake switch then to the turn signal switch, then to the lights. No? .. again.. possibly turn signal switch or the wiring between cab and bed.
Check the brake light switch under the dash attached to the brake peadal arm. It is wher the break booster push rod attaches. Sometimes that switch works loose.
