Collision System Sensor in 05 Yukon Denali xl is malfunctioning

My air bag light come on and remained on, I didn't take it to the dealer to get checked because they wanted 150 to diagnoise it. I waited until I received my onstar monthly report and it said that the collision sensor was not reading properly. Now I just need to know how to replace it without being swindled.

You have two front collision sensors int he front. drivers and passengers. if you know which side it is then just order one from the dealer. to replace the sensor just disconnect the battery and locate the sensor, they are mounted below the rad. unbolt the bad sensor unplug connector and mount new one.. plug in connector and then reconnect battery. the airbag light will come on for the startup procedure and then once the airbag startup is passed and no problems are found the light should go out. Good luck

My airbag light blinks at times then remains on im not sure how to understand the code I have a 2002 pontiac montana

What code ? Plugging in a scan tool to check codes is how it's done , not by the light blinking an then staying on . Your best bet , take it to a qualified repair shop.

AIR BAG Indicator
The AIR BAG indicator, located in the IPC is used to notify the driver of SIR system malfunctions and to verify that the SDM is communicating with the IPC. When the ignition is turned ON, the SDM and the IPC are supplied with ignition 1 voltage. The IPC responds by flashing the AIR BAG indicator seven times. While the IPC is flashing the AIR BAG indicator, the SDM conducts tests on all SIR system components and circuits. If no malfunctions are detected, the SDM will command the IPC to turn the AIR BAG indicator OFF via Class 2 serial data. The SDM provides continuous monitoring of the inflator module circuits by conducting a sequence of checks. If a malfunction is detected, the SDM will store a DTC and command the IPC to turn the AIR BAG indicator ON via Class 2 serial data. The presence of a SIR system malfunction could result in non-deployment of the inflator modules in the event of a collision, or deployment of the inflator modules without the event of a collision. The AIR BAG indicator will remain ON until the malfunction has been repaired.

Code's on a factory or professional scan tool look like this
DTC B0012, B0013, B0014, B0016, B0017, or B0018
DTC B0022, B0024, B0026, B0042, B0043, or B0044
DTC B0028, B0029, or B0030
DTC B0040, B0041, or B0045
DTC B0051
DTC B0053
DTC B0057, B0058, or B0059
DTC B0064, B0065, or B0066
DTC B0077, B0078, B0079, B0080, B0081, or B0082
DTC B0100, B0101, B0102, B0103, B0104, or B0105
DTC B1001

Doesn't do the flashing light code thing .

Humming sound coming from the small speaker over my head ?

That "speaker looking thing" above the drivers head on the headliner is a part of the climate control system.

Here is the GM bulletin regarding it if you are running in to these issue:

Document ID# 1639237

Subject: Buzz Noise From Headliner Above Driver - keywords ac air aspirator cover fan grille HVAC interior microphone sensor speaker temperature vent vibration #PIT3511 - (03/29/2005)

Models: 2000-05 Cadillac Escalade

2002-05 Chevrolet Avalanche

2000-05 Chevrolet Silverado, Suburban, Tahoe

2000-05 GMC Sierra, Yukon, Yukon XL, Yukon Denali

The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in the PI.

Condition/Concern:
Dealer or customer may comment that they have a buzz or vibration noise emanating from the headliner in an area that looks like microphone or a speaker.

Recommendation/Instructions:
The plastic escutcheon grill, which is round and about the size of a half dollar and located just above the driver to the left, is the interior ambient temperature sensor. The sensor is used in conjunction with the automatic HVAC (C68). On occasions, this sensor has been known to make a buzz or rattle sound. The sensor uses a small fan to pull air over the sensor. This buzz noise may be intermittent.

Although it may not be possible to alleviate all of the buzz or noise from this sensor, Engineering has found that if the sensor is installed incorrectly that it may bind and cause the fan to make a buzz noise. Remove the sensor and while doing so check for any binding. Reinstall the sensor and re-test. If the noise is still present, the sensor itself may be noisy and require replacement.

Light stays on and warning for airbag service on reader board

If the airbag light stays on after it completes it's "check light" process then there is a fault in the air bag system. It could be anything from a bad sensor (there are 3 of them) to a wire that has become unplugged. This problem should be repaired as soon as possible because the air bags will not deploy in a collision while the warning light is continually on.

There are 2 fuse panels in the Denali.
One is a panel on the drivers side, its on the dash but facing the door.

The ohter is under the dash and above the pedals, this one is much tougher to access.

Your Owner's Manual should tell you where the fuses are that you need to access.
