Have a 94 Chrysler Lebanon, when it gets warm the engine light comes on and wants to die when you come to a stop or slow down. The code is 51, air/fuel at limit. Changed O2 sensor a couple of years ago, it was doing this, not sure what code. Ran fine for over a year, started again; changed O2 again, and now in 10th month starting acting up again. Any suggestions?

SOURCE: 94 chrysler lebaron stalled now wont start.

If it has been over 60K, this is likely your problem. You will need to remove the timing cover to confirm. If it is intact, look at cam sensor, crank sensor, and possibly fuel pump issue.

SOURCE: 1992 Chrysler LeBaron 3.0 L.

the owner probably rerouted the fuel line because like my 92 chrysler lebaron v6 3.0 the fuel lines keep seeming to come off and the clamps always break. I have replaced the clamps 5 times in a month and replaced filters 2 times in 2 months. The only thing i could think of is that your fuel is being cut off possibly because there is no filter to clean all the junk out. Try putting a fuel filter on and see if that will work

SOURCE: Hard start when cold, running rich, poor fuel economy

Chrysler has a bulletin out for a simular condititon that involves replacing the pcm. Heres the bulletin number 18-005-04. This is only 1 possible cause , Fuel pressure, coolant temp sensor, thottle position sensor all can cause like problems. Seeing sensor values and fuel adaptives with a scan tool helps pin point problems.

there are no codes that say replace O2 sensors,or remove converter,Thats just somebody's guessing,When it says O2 sensor that tells the mechanic to look for trouble in that area, wiring or faulty readings,And there are four O2 sensors.

Does your "Check Engine" light come on, John? I'd hope so. If it does, please have someone with an OBD scanner read your computer error codes.

This sounds for all the world like the engine is running much too lean when warm. The power brakes use vacuum to assist pedal pressure, and that vacuum draws a lot of air from the intake manifold. Normally, that's not enough air to make a difference, but if the engine's already running much too lean it might be enough to cause the symptoms you describe.

2001 Chrysler Concorde LXI randomly stalling while slowly dow to stop or turn. Will usually crank back. This car will sit and idle for ever, but when you drive it for 10-15 minutes and slow down to stop or...

One suggestion:
Speed sensor failure.

Info:
Some of the classic symptoms, stalling at dead stops. failure to auto lock doors. poor fuel economy. Failure to go to overdrive.

Recommendation:
Go to your local parts store and run the failure codes.

Shop notes:
Your ECU thinks that the engine is running with out moving, During slow down the engine steps down the idle to match ground speed and as a result the engine will not stall. At present it goes directly to idle and stalls due to drag on motor.
Hope this tip helps.

Problems accelerating

the engine tickover is too slow when the engine is cold its running on cold start, ie:choke,, after it warms up the engine slows down this is what is causing it to stall in gear,, get some one to hold the brakes hard on and with the engine running in gear ajust the tick over till its reving at 750 - 850 rpm the revs will go up a bit when its out of gear,, before you pick a gear to go into push the foot brake down to stop the car lurching,,,

1992 Dodge 250 van, 318, Automatic - Dies when coming to a stop

I cannot see how adding a fuel additive would help to be honest. I would be looking for a split or leaking vacuum line, I have even seen a leaking evap canister before that caused a similar problem. Does the engine pull clean and strong when it is warm or at cruising speeds? Does it feel like its running lean or misfiring?

Change the Cam Position Sensor.. It done the same thing on mine. The sensor runs about
40. to 60.00 at most parts stores Your gonna have to take off the upper intake or plenum to
get access to it. Top of the engine right side, you'll see it

Code 51?

This is your engine coolant temperature sensor. it could be shot or the wire could be shorting out or it may be unplugged or you may even just need to top up your radiator
