Vehicle will not start. Starter turns over, but will not stay running. Changed out fuel filters, changed oil and still no good. What else should we check?
Are you getting good spark? Fuel pump? I know you changed your fuel filters, but can you hear the fuel pump come on when you turn the key just one click - (not all the way to start it)? OR
"There are quite a few things that might be causing your problem but the first thing I would do is have your electrical system checked out. Sometimes a bad alternator can stop charging your battery and cause this kind of problem. Even though the battery has enough voltage to turn things on it might not have enough to start the car. Most auto parts stores will test your electrical system for free. You can also check your battery cable connections and terminals. If they are corroded or loose it can cause this type of problem. There are other things that it could be but that is the most likely."
We honestly need more information, I suspect this is a 6.0 diesel. It turns over, fires a few times, then dies...?
At what temperatures is this a problem?
-could be the glow pugs or glow plug system is not functioning properly
Check to see if the fuel pump is getting fuel to the engine, there should be a schrader valve on the fuel line, turn the key on(don't start) and press the stem in on the valve (CAUTION, fuel should SPRAY out).
Lowrider....spark? please, the 6.0 is a diesel.
I have this problem currently with one of my trucks. Listen for the buzz or humm that usually accompanies the glow plug light on the dash. If you don't hear that, it's likely the (FICM) Fuel Injection Control Module. About $800 installed at the dealer. You can't do it yourself, the program must be loaded via a factory computer. Check the connectors first. This is the big silver box located on the driver side valve cover. The FICM changes the battery voltage from 12 to 48 vdc and when the injectors are warming up it will draw 200 amps. In addition, the starter will draw 500 amps. Your batteries MUST be in good condition and fully charged (12.4 vdc) or the FICM will not allow the injectors to operate. It is possiblle to bypass this and get the vehicle to the shop by disconnecting the wire from the alternator that is connected to the passenger side battery. The wire may be very hot if you have been trying to start it. It will dissable the fuel injector heaters and give more voltage for the FICM to fire the injectors.

We did charge both batteries fully. This is a diesel and some one has said something about a cps sensor, could it also be a map sensor?
