Don't go by what someone said ! Testing the affected system is the only way to trouble shoot a problem like this . When it dies and won't start you need to find out what is missing , spark or fuel ! Pull the coil wire off the Distributor cap and hold near ground (metal on the engine ) Have someone turn the engine over , turn the key to start position. Is there spark ? If yes , it's not the crank sensor . Test the fuel pump relay electrical circuit . put a fuel pressure gauge on the fuel rail . The fuel injectors on these are known problem childs . CPI - center port fuel ijection . They are located under the intake manifold along with fuel pressure regulator . The regulators are known to leak fuel inside the intake manifold . Cause hard start problems . How to identify and repair leaking fuel pressure regulator GM CPI system...
Does it have spark ? If so it's nothing to do with the crank sensor ! Does your blazer have a tachometer ? does it move when cranking the vehicle ? If so , it's not the crank sensor ! How to test an electric fuel pump GM CPI case study
i have a 1994 gmc jimmy 4.3l cpi. i could not pass the emission test.hard to start, spuddered, and smell of gas was strong. long story short, i replaced my spider injectors, good to go. $278 brand new from auto zone.
Check your starter and check your connections to make sure they are clean and tight. The low fuel pressure won't cause a no crank. Too low could cause a no start but not a no crank. I've had starters be bad right out of the box. But if that starter motor isn't turning either the starter motor is bad or the solenoid attached or the wiring to it is at fault.
Hi, there is a fuel pressure port at the rear of the intake, where you can attach a guage. The pressure should be 55-60 psi. If the pump does not run for a couple of seconds, when you turn the key on, or constantly while cranking, you need to see if there is power and ground at the pump. if there is power and ground, and it does not run, there is an in tank fuel pump issue. Good luck...coop
check the fuel pressure with a guage. it should MAINTAIN 55-60 psi or the popits will not work properly on the cpi. fuel pumps and sending units fail on these all the time and even know you have some pressure at the test port you may not have 55-60 psi. trust me ...ck it with a guage. good luck!
hello, sorry for the bad luck u r having with the 4.3l cpi.........unfortunatly it is common for the "spider legs" to break or crack causing a large fuel leak inside lower plenum... the fuel injection spider is not too expensive or difficult to change, but there is some time involved.. i hope this helps, marty
