There is a differance in PSFluid and Auto g/box oils as power steering oil is DEXRON II or III, not auto box oil which is fluid type T. which is used in all 1997 Rav 4 s.

SOURCE: 97 Toyota Rave4 power steering pump

power steering pumps either work or don't, so the other part that does cause this issue and will be intermittent in nature is the steering rack, u have a leaky assist piston seal.

the car is really toyota corolla, in snake skins (rattle snake)
40million sold, (a record)
on many cars it uses same fluid as the autotransmission

answer is DEXRON 6
use Dexron with the largest number in the end. 6 is today

Where is the power steering pump 97 geo tracker

97 geo tracker is not equipped with power steering. they where made so light that they just have steering assist which doesn't require power steering fluid or anything else. you will notice that when vehicle is parked or at slow speeds steering wheel is hard to turn. this is perfectly normal its just not power steering.

What type of power steering fluid and the capicity does bmw 545i 2004

Most BMWs have a dip stick in the reservoir cap to measure the fluid level of the power steering fluid. We use Agip power steering fluid. There are generally just two types, standard Dextrn/ATF and Power steering fluid. Unless the cap or manual states otherwise, then just put power steering fluid in it.

2 quarts will be more than enough unless the cap of the p/s res says otherwise p/s fluid will be perfectly fine just dont buy the kind with stop leak
