Will the fuel pump out of a 97 s10 work in a 91

Sounds like you should look into your fuel pressure regulator.

I had a 1997 s10 4*4 with the 2.8 v6.
mine do that I had to pull the gas tank replace fuel filter plus had to take undo the line from the intake and blow air thru it. Make sure all u're filter are replaced and y u have the tank down replace the fuel pump. I hope this helps u

Fuel pressure regulator could b faulty

even if you hear pump run, dosent mean it has enough pressure. it is very possible this is the problem. could be engine miss as well. does it jerk when accellerating (light load, like in overdrive up a hill?) let me know.

i just bought my truck 91 gmc i put a new fuel pump from advance it came own one time when i turn key switch own.so i pull tank back off and went to napa to get a better pump put it in and now when i turn key on i dont hear fuel pump what could it be

Tried changing the fuel filter? Blocked fuel filter would be a no go.

Were you able to hear the fuel pump before you had the problem? Some of these cars won't let the fuel pump run until the computer picks up distributor signal first. Chryslers are known for cam and crank sensors going bad. Not a back-yard repair, though. Diagnosing it is half of the problem, repairing it is the other. Hopefully the posts come up with more obvious stuff.
