1998 Dodge Grand Caravan Power Window - Driver window won't go down. History: I have replaced the mechanism a year or so ago (cable guides wore out). This time the mechanism was bad again (Cable frayed and jammed in regulator). Upon replacing mechanism again, the regulator goes up, but not down. There is seemingly no power to the motor for "down". (However, now all of the other windows work - including the rear right vent that hasn't moved for years.) I partially disassembled the switch module didn't see anything glaringly wrong. Is there a fuse or breaker for the "down" circuit on one window? Is there a schematic for the switch module?

THE WINDOW MOTOR AND REGULATOR ARE NOT SERVICED SEPERATE. YOU SHOULD ONLY REPLACE AS A REGULATOR ASSEMBLY. IF IT CAME APART GOOD LUCK GETTING IT BACK TOGETHER. I'M SURE IT COULD BE DONE BUT NOT SURE IT WILL LAST LONG.

Check the harness going from the door to the inner fender for broken wires, this happens a lot due to the constant bending and flexing when the door is opened and shut. You will need to cut the plastic covering so be careful not to cut more deap than you have to to avoid further wire damage.

SOURCE: how to replace power window motor for 2003 dodge

That's unusual for a window motor to go bad, however the plastic track breaks causing the window to become inoperative. If you hear the window motor working, then the plastic geared strip is probably broken. It would be cost effective to you to first find out whether the plastic track is broken for now Chrysler sells a "generic" window track where you cut the plastic track to fit Your Vehicle. Should this be the case, then remove the door panel (a Haynes Manual would come in handy), and take out one pin in the plastic track, while supporting the Window! (smile) and remove the old track and re-install the new track.

A little secret here...buy some Mopar Speedometer Grease while buying the Window Track and grease the metal rail that the plastic track rides on. The Speedometer grease is NOT temperature sensitive, so it works well in Summer & Winter Temperatures.

Should it truly be your Window Motor, Chrysler sells a re-build kit for the Window Motor which has the gears and grease needed to replace the worn out ones in the head of the Window Motor rather than paying for a "Brand New" window motor. All of this (the plastic window track AND the Window Motor Kit), will be under $100.

I hope this helps you,
Let me know if this resolves your problem.

Driver window will not roll up or down....cables all wound up inside window motor...need schematic for window

What you need is a window regulator/motor assembly. Not a difficult repair. Two clips hold the window to the mechanism. Two bolts each for the tracks, and three bolts hold the motor to the inside panel of the door. Remove all these and the cable hold downs, fold together, and remove from inside the door. It is probably easier if you remove the glass after you remove the clips.

The driver window pops when going down and the passenger window won't go down

most likely cause is the cable that rolls the window up and down is catching. Youll need the window regulator its a cable with the whole motor and this will hold your entire window up be care use some help or use some good tape to hold the window up. the motor is a little tricky to get off the window regulator assembly

Dodge caravan window driver side doesn't get down motor tries but is like it is stuck

sounds like the window regulator. this is the cable mechanism that the motor runs to pull the window up and down. sometimes after time the cables fray and break or get tangled. need to remove inner door panel to replace, and is usually sold as a set, regulator and motor together.

When my window rolls down the cable snaps loose that rolls the window down. i just replaced the motor on the window

normally when the motor goes, I would always recommend replacing the the entire Power window regulator, the reason being that the plastic rollers break, thus allowing slipping of the cable, thus resulting in you being frustrated not being able to raise/ lower your window. all that being said a new regulator online is about 130.00 (325.00 from dealer + labor). Autopartswarehouse.com (this is where i bought mine) replaced it and have been happy!. you must already know how to get the panel off and get to the motor, with all that there are several steps left, and you will be happy again, remove the three bolts around the regulator, the 4 bolts securing the window tracks and the two clips or bolts securing the window to the window bracket, re assemble and you will be much happier, Good Luck !!!
