2000 f350 super duty 7.3 drw steering seems to lock up on hard right and left turns. wheel shakes untill i stop and restart. i can sometimes stop the shaking if i quickly turn right and left while driving. help

if it shakes when moving maybe driveshaft or out of balance tire. if it shakes DURING gear change then it's transmission time

check the steering shocks

it should be the pump had the same problem and changed the pump. when you put the new one on fill it up with derxon 3 or 5 auto trans fluid leave cap off and turn wheel to left and right slowly until air is out of system then fill to hash mark on stick.

Power steering fluid is full? Sounds like it might be a power steering pump. It has hydroboost brakes that are controlled by the Power steering.

sounds like tie rod ends with the shaking.check struts and sway bar links on the snapping. hope this helps you.

there are vaccum seals inside the spindle, they may be bad- or it could be the vaccum control solenoid.

On top of the steering box there should be a slotted bolt with a lock nut. center the steering wheel and tires and then loosen the lock nut and turn the slotted bolt/screw until you feel a slight resistance then loosen the screw a 1/4 turn the hold the screw from turning and tighten the lock nut and give it a try. it should be noticably tighter.

I have recently had this problem with a customer. It seems the 4x4 low will only engage in neutral with the brake applied. And also check fuse. Then select drive and you will feel it lock in. Don't "goose" the fuel when attempting this.

Check the U-joints and axle baerings. But its most likely because the truck is in four wheel drive.
