I have a 1997 GMC Jimmy 4x4. A couple of days ago the ABS light came on and I noticed the windows would not roll down and the interior fan would not work. I parked it checked the fuses and all were good so I restarted it and the light was off and the windows and fan operated. Now it is back on with the same results! What gives?

Take it to a shop to be sure. Mostly relays are black block looking things (somtimes white) near or in the fuse box under the hood.. When you pull them out look at the bottom of them, if they are black and discolored you got yourself a faulty relay.

Safari's tend to have problems with the rotor button on the distributer. Your's may be going bad. At first the van will stall as you described, due to a jarring of the motor, ie: a bump. etc., and then it will restart.
After a while the rotor button will fail completely.
I have had this same problem with two safar's and this is the solution that I have found.

Ok that's pretty simple Put cylinder # 1 on TDC= top dead center on the (compressionstroke piston all the way up). Mark on metal part of distributor (with marker) where the number one is on the cap( that's where the number 1 wire plugs in) Then in-plant distributor make sure that rotor point is pointed to #1 on the cap, turn distributor shaft until this is achieved or as close as possible try to center shaft so you can adjust... ****** or advance to fine tune after you in-plant distributor if needed. Contact if you need more help . Good Luck

Your transmission is electronic, it read's the the speed sensor from the yoke and relay's the information to the ECM which tell's the servos in the transmission acivate to change the gears up or down with the engine out put.
