The back up light switch is built into the multi-function switch. It is located on the front of the trans axle. The shift cable is connected directly to it. There is no 'seperate' reverse switch for the back-up lights.

SOURCE: how to change a thermostat in a 2001 toyota camry

This is better done when your engine is cold.
Park the car on a level fround.
Open the hood and remove the radiator cap.
Put a sizable container under the radiator and open its drain-plug.
(the drain-plug is by the radiator lower back wall).
Thermostat is in the inlet pipe held by three 10mm bolts that's attached to the engine block. (please note how it sitted)
Installation is reverse of removal. (replace o-ring around thermostat with a new one)

Where is the back up light switch located

If you are looking at the engine and transmission from the radiator side, look down at the transmission about half way towards the center near the bottom, but still within view from the top side. There are two switches located next to each other. The one located closest closest to the driver's side of the car is the reverse switch.
