Sometimes if the battery is really dead, even jumping it wont help it start up. It just sounds like a dead battery. Just try getting a new batter first then go from there.
i have a 2005 saturn ion i have the some problem i find out my batter we dead the batter is old school its vented and the batter is a 8 amp to save the batter get charger that his i amp selecter or you will have to pay 100 to120 next you have to get a starter it worked for me
If you are hearing only clicking, it is probably because your battery is not charged enough to turn the starter over. I would check the terminals on the battery first. If they are pretty dirty and corroded take them off and clean both the post and the cable and make sure they are tight. If they are clean, then put a battery charger on the battery and see if it's better in the morning.
Easiest thing might be would be taking the battery out of the car and taking it to a auto parts store like NAPA, Autozone, O'Reilly etc and they can load test the batter to see if it is able to take a charge. They can tell you in up to 5 minutes if the batter is your culprit.
First of all I would go to like Checkers, or Auto zone and let them put a battery draw down tester on your battery and check the battery.Second I would check your battery connections if the batter checks out. Also check engine grounds. You will hear noises when re-powering up. That is normal.
Boost your car with jumper cables and let the car idle or drive around for about 20 minutes for the alternather charge the batter on its own .if the car shuts off after you started it might be your alternather is no good . the reason why ur alternather might not be working is because the batter all it does is give enough power for the starter to crank the engine as soon as the engine starts running it gets all its juice from the alternather and it charges the batter as well. but some times when the alternather works and the batter is dead meaning all the cells inside the batter are dead it will never take the charge from the alternather. so you would have to change the batter.
if you would like to know how you can you test both parts useing a volt-a-meter... just ask...
p.s. I think its ur batter if you never changed it. so get that changed for the winter so you wont have any more starting problems during cold wheaters
