'06 volkswagon beetle- oil change at dealership. Drove home. Next day, start car and oil sensor light comes on. After 4 tries, no light problem. Car drives fine. No oil on driveway and dipstick has oil to max level. Next day, same thing. What did they do at dealership?

take that nice vehicle to autozone and they will read your codes free ..sounds like a sensor that is faulty

could be a problem oil pressure sender or sensor following the flush
check first using a mechanical gauge to check oil pressure and then replace the faulty unit

You've made the correct decision. Let the dealership diagnose the issue. They'll tell you EXACTLY what the problem is and what's needed to fix it (parts, labor, tax, time-frame, etc.).

I had the same problem on my 2000 beetle and I had to change the water pump . Once you change the water pump you have to change the timing belt because the water pump is run by the timing belt .
you could know if it is the water pump by checking the hose that comes from the radiator to the enging to se if there is water running to the engine .

Sounds like your sending unit sensor - if it was your pump going out, your engine would be history by now. Rule of thumb, if your oil check light ever comes on, it's usually too late to remedy the problem. You have a major issue, but since you've obviousely drove it quite a bit since then and it still hasn't seized up, I'm guessing you're ok...for now. Since you took it to a shop and they said you're ok, I'm assuming they checked your level and visually checked for leaks and found nothing. Either, you've got somethijng partially blocking your pick-up tube for the pump which is in your oil pan, or a electrical issue with the sensor. I would start by having someone check the sensor out and go from there...good luck.

If the light is coming on, they should be hooking a computer up to the car to see what the car computer is exactly trying to say. Maybe low coolant, bad thermostat, blockage in radiator restricting flow, it could be a number of things. Does it come on more often in the city or the highway driving?
