2002 Dodge Intrepid accessory/starter relay problem?

I have a 2002 Dodge Intrepid. It was idling in my garage when it cut out for no apparent reason. Nothing happens when I turn the key to the accessory position (no ignition switched items like radio are getting power) nor will the starter engage. Battery is good, all fuses are good, it's like an accessory relay is not working or something like that. Ideas?

Accessory position is turning key towards he driver. Ignition on is away 1 and start is away2.

  • Turn on your headlights, do they work? If not, chk batt terminals
  • If they do, try to crank the engine noting what the headlights do. If they go out, Chk the batt ground cable. If they dim, your batt needs a charge. If they dim and then come back bright when you back off the starter, the starter is bad.
  • Chk for loose engine to body ground. That would affect the accessories. Good Luck, _Ned_

Trying to locate the Starter Relay for a 2002 Dodge Intrepid

This should be located in the power/fuse box under the hood. The box should be located near the battery. Remove the plastic cover on the box and there should be a diagram showing the positions for the relays.

2002 dodge intrepid clicks and wont start

it is not uncommon for a failing starter to make a click noise, but check other things before jumping into that, clean the battery terminals, have the battery tested, make sure you are getting power to the starter and have a good ground.

2002 intrepid 2.7 Im getting no crank from the starter and I dont hear the fuel pump kicking on when the ignition key is turned on, I do get power to the radio and dash, Ive checked fuses and replaced...

Under the hood, there should be a fuse block. Remove the cover and there will be a 20amp(i think) fuse that protects the fuel pump and starter circuit. I've run into this problem many times and every time it ends up being the starter that blows the fuse.

My name is Starshaw and I have a 2002 Intrepid. Had a mechanic change thermostat, water pump. After putting ba k together now won't start, mechanic thinks because no voltage to ignition coil the pcm is bad.

He/she needs to check the ASD relay, and the starter relay to see if they are working propertly. He/she can place their hand on the relays and if they are engaging properly, they will feel a click, if not, tap the one that didn't respond with the back of a screwdriver handle....

I need to change the thermostat in a 2002 dodge intrepid and need to know where the housing is.

Follow the two big hoses where they attach to the engine, it should be apparent where the thermostat housing is at the end of the hose.

2002 saturn sl2 will not start for no apparant reason then 1 to 3 days later starts, while trying it 2-3 times a day. Towed to a garage both times and they could find nothing wrong.

Why couldn't they find anything wrong? The main componants should be tested first. (the starter, srarter relay, any related wiring, ignition switch, and all connections at battery, relay, fuse, starter, and eng. block). Good luck.
