Check the speed sensor on the top of the differential. It's the one that the ABS and the speedometer uses.

Hello, one of the ABS sensor on one of the wheels is bad. There are four sensor on your vehicle one for each wheel. Also the ABS as a computer which uses the sensor to brake/open wheels in a slide, braking to keep the vehicle straight, snow, ice and rain. The ABS computer commutates the speed of the vehicle and send a signal to the speedometer. GB...stewbsion

scan for codes first. sounds like a shorting wire. has vehicle been lifted?

i just had the same problem w/ my 04 ram.......after replacing the sensors that the abs computer codes gave me it still had the same problem....then i unplugged the abs module only to find water in it.....apparently its a problem w/ dodge.....i dried it out with an air hose and it works fine now... hope this helps.......Chip

Verify that the ABS wheel speed sensors in the wheel hubs are operating properly. They tell the vehicle individual wheel speeds, and can be just as important as the vehicle speed sensor. Also, verify that the individual wiring connections are properly connected, and inspect the wiring.

Hi, Autozone will scan your vehicle for free 1997 and newer vehicles. Your brake fluid being low will also make the brake light go on. Ihope this helped you out. Good luck, .....MIKE-

my 99 had a sensor go bad that had similar symptoms. sensor is in rear "pumpkin". mounted on top. $41 at autozone. look at dodge truck forum, do a search.

I had the same problem with ABS light and speedometer, I was told that it is the transmission control module. It has not yet stopped shifting but I have had times where it just wont stay running. It will start and then stall. Hope this helps.
